Dope Fiend: Thanks! I'll try to finish some of them up more, lately its just crazy because I keep getting new ideas and by the time I come back to a piece I see so many things wrong that I just start a new one.... I should try just fixing the ones that I have once in a while. I've been doing a ton of studies from life and anatomy books and photos in my physical sketchbook, I'll upload them sometime soon.

    Here's another fairly simple image...

Ahh the thinker, he's looks like he's got a big decision to make! Love the shadows from the arm and the fabric shadowing. Can't wait to see where you take it. Also you've got it down with your greyscale shading but when you take it to colour it's lacking a little, it doesnt have the same oomph that your straight colour works have. Also in post http://conceptart.org/forums/showpos...&postcount=131 there's a piece that reminds me of the art style from Machinarium. keep it up!

hey everyone, sorry I haven't been around for a while. I've been sick all week but i'd like to post the moddb link for "stone rage" the game I have been doing enviros for. Please check out all the work we have put in so far and follow us with our progress. You can see some of my work in the images section, just look for the ones with "Jeff Brown" in the description. Eric Quigley and Giuseppe Troiano also have some fantastic work there.

Keep it up, Jeff. You're doing really well, just stick with it. I think figures should be a big part of your study at the moment, you've got organic environments NAILED. The sitting figure might be better referenced. I had a bunch of guy sitting with swords in a throne references I shot with a friend of mine, but I can't find them anywhere, sorry.

Nice portraits man! I think you should start constructing your heads thinking about the mass and volume of the overall form first. The head is easiest when divided up into the proper masses and I find noses are important to "build" as well. Learn the skull, as it tells you the most about the structure at hand. I'm editing this, because I realized I was a bit vague here, sorry. Here's an example of what I'm talking about- "learning the masses" or the shapes. I found that my head drawings improved significantly when I studied the head in this manner, so I thought I'd offer it to you as food for thought. Just my opinion, and I definitely hope to see you keep up the good work!

This is also how I think it's wisest to go about learning the human body as well. You want to retain A LOT of information, because the goal is to be able to do this from your head when you're required to, right? Your business is forms! Just keep in mind that the things you're drawing will be easier to draw after each and every study. The studies themselves might take much labor in the beginning, but you'll begin to see the snowball effect in no time, and then it'll be "fun".

I'll be stopping by, it's really easy to keep in touch with you now anyway .

Use most of black in the small places where light cant reach at all, (because in the most of the other surfaces u have reflected light).Keep it up mate

Nice work. I'm trying to get a better grasp of digital so it's inspiring to see you moving leaps and bounds.

I think pushing the values a bit more might not be a bad idea. Especially in the forest one. The colours in this one seem wrong. Green is a nightmare colour, possibly because it's so common in the natural world that we notice more when it's not right. I'm really struggling with it. I think you did a really good job with the colours here though. If you find an answer to green woes, do let me know too.

The recent scenes are great. Are you going to go into more details on the buildings? I wouldn't know where to start with them from that point, so just curious.

You figure studies are great too, keep up the good work.

Thanks HAJiME, I appreciated anything I can get as far as color criticism, i sure need it. I hadn't thought much about the green, I just left it at that. I'm not too happy with that piece, but it missed the deadline for the teen challenge anyways so i'm not too worried about it

Also, here's a deviantart group dedicated to the concept art and later on the 3D renders for the video game Stone Rage by Mountain Wheel Games. Please check it out and watch us if you have a DeviantArt account!

On that last one it looks like he has a little bitty tiny arm rather than an arm in perspective. Build up that arm using cylinders first to get the foreshortening right, and remember the forward arm/hand should be larger as it approaches the viewer.
