Nice going with the life drawings!

Have you checked out any of the videos over at ctrl+paint? The ones from the "unplugged' series are all about observational drawing techniques. Link here:

Yeaah boi. Alright first up is a RAM. I looked it up on google and all I found were pictures of computer parts 0-0!!

Next some 3-4 minute gestures and anatomy of the chest region.

Last is some animation. I redrew the pages of this really tiny book a Chinese friend had. Absolutely fascinating. I really hope the gif works here!

    Cheers!!!

EDIT: The gif does not work instantly. I had to open it in a new tab. TT_TT So sorry. I don't know how to fix that.

EDIT EDIT: If you save the gif it will loop forever. IDKWATISHAPPENINGAHKJDVSKA Anybody know why?

EDIT EDIT EDIT: Wing saves the day! Updating again.

As always crit and comments always welcome.

I need some serious help here. i think i do better when i drawing things out on paper rather than start from a digital paper. I feel a lot less control with the digital paint. Everything is so... "slippery". maybe this makes no sense.

Is there a better way to block shapes in or help to understand how to do copies of these awesome paintings?

What do you mean by a better way? You can look at tutorials like ctrl paint or on youtube and see how they do it. Btw do you have hamptons book? Its really good!

Sketched these at the dentist's office.

    Karate dude!
    Jumping pole guy!
    Balarena girl!
One legged robot with machine gun!!

...and NO, sadly, none of these characters were present in the office so I drew them from my imagination (whatever is left of it...)

GREAT work man, keep it up! In terms of digital feeling slippery, I know what you mean, this goes away in time, as long as you just keep painting you'll get used to it. I always thought it was because of the disconnect between the screen and your hand on the tablet, believe it or not there is a lag between your hand movement and the movement you see on the screen...it's so incredibly slight though, so it's really hard to pick up. But your brain picks it up, and that's why painting feels odd. Anyway I mean that's just what I've gathered about it, I could be totally wrong, either way man, just keep going , you're getting loads better.

I... can't believe this. I stared at my screen for about100 seconds moving the cursor back and forth and there... it...was.

    LAG

I have had this tablet forever and I have NEVER noticed it. You blow my mind Psychobuddy. You are awesome. Get used to it I shall. Painting Painting Painting Painting Painting...

Also. What happened at the time I found out there was lag.

    Hey man
Nice studies, these Ram sketch, and animation looks really cool.
If you have problems with finding Ram photos, you may always try to search for them in other languages (google translator FTW) for example Ram at polish will be Baran

To get more control over your digital paintings - like in these copy above you may try analyze the copied pics more, and use help of layers.

For example on lay1 you may try to catch only a gesture - simplify these female character into something like a Y letter. Fast doodle with a lot of energy.

On Layer 2 - you may build all the forms from the cubes, eggs, etc.

On layer 3 something other: Values, colors, maybe outline.

Its just a example ofc. you may use layers in whatever ways you like
Layers may be turned off, or their opacity may go lower. They are awesome tool to learn and analyze master copies from different ways.

At last i love them Hope it make any sense

Thank you!! I have never thought of trying to find photos in another language. I will use this method! Thank you for you help and encouragement. I should use more layers to not put so much pressure on myself. Thanks again!
