If you could only take 3 books with you to a deserted island

    -Bible

    1) "How to Survive on a Deserted Island and Other Useful Facts" - Robinson Crusoe
    2) "Building a Small Boat Out of Wood, and Navigating it Around the World - an Illustrated How-To" - I. M. A. Krazymothafucka
    3) "Chopping Down the Tallest Tree in the Forest with a Herring - When You Just Gotta Have Wood!" - Monty Python's Flying Circus

Well, maybe not those, but I think if I was going to an island and I could take only 3 books, I would take something useful, like a medical text, a survival guide and some other useful book. Instead of wasting my time reading up on philosophy while I starve to death, I'd rather have something helpful. Not dissing philosophy, but if I was on a deserted island I would have lots of time to think up my own philosophies; Something which I couldn't do if I was dead. Aristotle won't tell you how to effectively rough it in the great outdoors.

good point. the way i figure it though, I'll read the bible to keep my religious focus. I'll read the Star Wars book to keep me entertained and inspired. and Catch-22 will remind me how messed up the rest of the world is, and how ironic and double sided life is. A survival guide might be handy, but dying quickly might end up being the easier road out of a predicament like that anyhow....heh
