The concept is great. Looking forward to see you render it out.

I like the way the diamonds pops out.

Nice idea. Like balloons filed with juice. Curios to know how they extract the juice.
    Wiggen
Awesome Its really revolting. I think you have set the design.
Just render out the feet's and wrinkles and why not have some slight differences in the skin and shadow colour.
I think that could bring some more life to the black shadows.

Thanks for the advise about the Pupils. My idea is that it produces gigantic pearls.

    Great start

just a quick sketch so far today. the idea is that these guys have penises made of an extremely durable, lightweight, and very rare metal.

needs to be more gross i think.

    Hey everyone

This is my first time entering here! Really excited! Here is my concept sketch/work in progress so far.

"Deep in the cave of Kavanaka, we stumbled upon one of the most grotesque monstrosities known to our kind. "The Unspoken". Ulcers and blisters of its sweat form upon it's hairy, slimy surface, only to crystallise and shed when they become too heavy for this disgusting creature to carry. These crystalline ulcerations are some of the most expensive adornments in this universe as well as being a valuable fuel, so despite the heavy cost to our men, it is necessary to forage from such a hideous and predatory beast. Many of our kind have been lost through its trap, the slime it produces serves as a paralysing glue which adheres the poor soul to the spot before the creature descends and devours its hapless victim. God help those poor kin who wander into its cave next...."

HI everyone! This is my first COW. Instead of disgusting this guy seems too cuddly.

I like the stuff you guys are posting. Keep it up!

    An update for my concept-
I just wasn't happy with the way this was sitting in its world. The textures were fighting for dominance and the area felt "blah". So, I reworked the background to open the space, make it feel more of a bizarre local. I also adjusted the colors and texture on the ugly critter, too.

^^This is pretty wicked. I like it.

JanJager-Thanks for the advice. I'm really looking to improve with my painting, so I appreciate this. Your own piece looks fantastic.

Still a ways to go, but I'm happy so far.

Edit: Just thought I'd mention to ShutUpMouth, that you might want to get rid of the cutesy eyes if you want to cut some of the cuddly look.

Yo, first COW. Sweet subject matter.

I chose to make the valuable item within the anatomy be the eggs of the creature itself. The harvested eggs are rare and very expensive when placed in underground markets, fetching huge sums of money to the highest bidder. More to come!

Nice one, Bnoch, one of the best so far. Has a lot of character, and it has a very functional design. I like the anatomy of the arms/legs, the structure is really defined and solid.

msulli25 - Please dial your image size down a notch. We can't even take in the entire image without zooming out. Making your image a maximum of 1100 pixels wide (on upload) will ensure that we can view at least most of the image in one shot.

    Just a couple comments today:
Bnoch - Very cool. Nice translucence. See if you can get some skin hanging off the neck, too. I've always thought neck skin has this grotesque element about it, I think that would really push your design to new revolting levels.
Wiggen - The balance is off on your creature. It looks like it's squatting or about to fall on it's ass. Position the rear legs in a more "one forward one backward" position or adjust their positioning so that they aren't making the center of gravity the beast's ass.
Skullbeast - Love the new direction. Try and clean up the rim lighting if you can. That's a consistent problem I see with your work (that I myself also have) the rim lighting is a bit to sketchy and sometimes goes beneath the black outlines you have on your creature. If you let the rim lighting become smoother and let it become the outline in itself, it will make the light seem more real and the creature's form seem more defined.

Skullbeast - That's looking pretty damn solid. I think this is actually my favorite of yours since the Stinky Swamp Devil. Thin those hairs out a bit and make them a bit more plentiful and I think they'll have a bit more of an effect. Maybe think about making them a bit curly (like pubic hair?).
Wiggen - The balance is better now, but the positioning of the front legs is bothering me. Mostly because it looks like they have no joints. If they were moved back a tiny bit and the musculature defined a bit more this probably wouldn't be a problem.
(lark - I like this design a lot more. Those eyes are a little cute right now. Maybe if they were milky and really membrane-heavy rather than black and beady? Deadline is approaching fast, so get back to me on that email when you get the chance, eh?
polawat - I gotta say I fucking love this design. It's really reminiscent of Ghibli in this state, I really hope that keeps up as the piece develops.

The colours aren't too strong, but I think the light is a bit too white on certain areas.

Si_Swe -Yeah, I thought the same thing last night so I messed with it a bit. I might have made things worse actually. But I don't really have time for it anymore so it is what it is.

Sort of teaches the importance of sketching things right the first time.
