    e.Stef, Traditional Illustration Sktchbk, Weekly

Ive been lurking around for a bit here on CA and I think I may be ready to start trying to participate. My name is Elli, I am a tattoo artist and freelance Illustrator.

I probably wont post any/many tattoo things, there are other places where they are more appropriate, but I was hoping CA might enable me to get a bit of feed back on my work in illustration, while also giving me a chance to help out others when I can.

I think my weakest areas are in figure drawing and perspective, so I'll start with that.

I've never gotten a chance to do a figure drawing class of any sort, so Ive been going to Dr. Sketchy's here in Portland, Or. These are two of the quick drawings I did this last meeting.

Thanks for your patience as I try to figure all this out.

    I know I said weekly...

But I figured since I was so new Id post a couple more. Maybe Ill wait a few days after this to make more posts.

These two were both done from photo reference as studies for larger projects. I'll have to figure out how to photograph them once they're done, they're on kind of a strange surface.

In my next post Ill try and find some examples of more conceptual stuff, thumbnails and sketches of whole compositions and such.

    So much for weekly...

I've been busy on and off the last few weeks, but Ive also been trying harder to create more of an internet presence. I guess I'm doing alright, except remembering to post my own artwork.

    This week's theme; Skulls

Nothing exciting, I have a ton more. I aim to scan them when I get a chance later this week. They're just quick studies, I think I spent more time on the one in blue col-erase pencil, maybe 15min? The one in graphite maybe about 5? I draw skulls a lot, so I can crank them out pretty quick.

    Update for March

More. Ive been wicked busy lately, which is great!

Got to go to San Jose California to do some live painting at a tech convention, that was fun, not to mention a paid trip to Cali. Ill post some of the paintings I did there when I get a chance.

For now though here are some sketches.

I like the variety. And that spider's abdomen is great. I'd avoid having all your shading lines going down on that skull though. It flattens the image

    It's progress, NOT perfection.

    Figure Drawing!

So, Ive started attending weekly figure drawing sessions. I actually started back in January, but I never really thought to post them online until recently.

I didnt generally look at figure drawing work the way I do finished pieces, but now that Im doing them myself for the firdt time, Ive discovered that there is a lot you can learn from looking at other people's work.

So here are a couple from Jan.
