eedward: Thank you. It's been such a long time since I drew a page full of eyes. Good to know I'm doing something right!

Stacybean: Thank you. I will try next time. I was originally taught to paint with still life studies starting on white, so I thin kthat's where I was coming from. I will change things up next time. *nod*

Beckon: I will take a look at the different background when I open up Photoshop later today. I need to absorb a bit more graphite into my skin before taking on digipaints today. As for the faces, I was not drawing uninterrupted. Yes, they are basic, but I wasn't really sure where to go from my manga influenced style towards something perhaps a little more realistic. It may not have helped that I chose to use a character that tends towards expressing in emoticon-like faces in my comic, but it's something I'm going to work on.

Unsurprising that they look manga-rooted to you. It is a comfortable set of symbols to me, and yes I am working on stretching out of my comfort zone; I just needed a bit of blankie time yesterday, I think.

ladyknowles: Thanks so much. I may have to hit you up for some bird-head tips. They are studies for creature designs, which I am terrible at. I may just have to stick your gold star up above my monitor to remind me that I have it. Thank you.

Here are some gestures done with lychee's suggestions for holding my pencil a different way. So difficult and uncomfortable, and the coils on my book keep getting in the way! I will persevere.

Also, a self-portrait that I spent 20 minutes on with a timer set. This is the first self-portrait I've done since my painting class, where I did more self-portraits in two months than I knew was possible.

Those poses you've done with the looser pencils look GREAT. Much more natural and they look far less like your eyes and hand are in a fight. Keep going!

    I like your gesture studies.
The portrait, props to getting that much done in 20 minutes. That is actually quite good for that amount of time. Keep it up!

Today has mostly stuff from yesterday evening, and a few little things I did this evening. I also couldn't be arsed to grab my other sketchbook to scan the stuff I did at the coffee shop, so there's more than I'm showing you, but not much.

Another self-portrait that I just kinda half worked on until I got sick of it, a bunch of studies of a Rubins torso while I was watching video games and then couldn't sleep later, an opencanvas doodle of Sailor Moon from memory that I did in an opencanvas chat with karmiclychee (so much fun!), and then some more torsos with baffled questions about the sizes and emphasis on things and some imagination torso practice.

I was going to do another bloody onion, but then I got sidetracked by screwing around in opencanvas, and that was the end of that. Then my cats threw the onion on the floor. I'll paint it tomorrow.

Your sketches are great! Are you going to do anything digitally? Would be great to see some more inventive things from your mind, applying the knowledge!

We'll just pretend yesterday didn't exist, shall we? My fiance and I had to go to the MALL on the LAST SATURDAY before christmas.

Today we went in town for breakfast, then to the tea shop, and then to the art store where I got a 11x14" sketchbook, which I proceded to do thumbnails for seasonal art for my comic in. It has to go up in 25 hours. I may not have much to show you folks tomorrow except for the finished piece.

Do feel free to crit :3

As suspected, I didn't do anything but drink tea and work on this picture all day.

Unexpectedly, my fiance got called out to work from 9:30pm until about 11pm, and my keyboard's C key has been working since about 11:30am, which is a lot more awesome than my fiance being called to work.

FootstepsBeckon helped me a bit on the picture, and then I finally told him "too bad" since I needed to get it to inks. Maybe on the Equinox, when I have to do another one of these for my comic, I'll do it with more than 24 hours notice, and actually be able to get more crits and take the advice into account.

Beckon: Yeah, backlighting is hard to do without reference. And yeah, I also knew that hand was going to be pretty much in shadow, though I maintain that you have weird hands.

TacoMeat: Yay! Glad to hear it! Just... don't flip that last image there... really. >_> Just don't.

And this morning: gestures! Yay! Everyone loves a scribbly mess!

Blame lychee. He made me hold my pencil differently so I can't get any darkness out of it.

Will: If you can't see these sketches, then I'm blaming your monitor, and not listening to you anymore untilyou fix the brightness, you dork.

Lychee: Thanks, I'm starting to get used to it now. I still have a bit of finger creep up to the point though, but I'm getting better. It doesn't feel like the pencil is 3 feet long anymore.

TacoMeat: Thank you. Both for the compliment and the nudge to get updating again. Boxing Day and the day after were lost to stabbing pain just under my sternum, but that was no excuse to not at least scan the pervious days works.

Doing some serious leg study now. I really like the wy that Bridgman works things out in The Human Machine. No one ever mentions it in reccomendations, but I love it. I think it's my favorite book of his, and I got my copy for a dollar at a library sale. :3

Legs, more legs, some table stuff, and the last page is my dog and my mum on the phone to my aunt.

*creeps in* I've been having a rough time with the study lately. Haven't been doing much that wasn't related to getting a comic page up, and even that's been... problematic. I think I'm starting to trudge through it though. Still grumpy about my progress, but that won't change if I don't get off my arse and draw.

I also had to go and get a proper wrist brace. Both of my wrists are acting up, but I couldn't draw for more than 5-10 minutes without it starting to hurt a lot, so I went to a Physiotherapy place and bought a good brace for $50. I am already seeing improvement in the braced wrist, and none whatsoever (worsening?) in the unsupported one. I had to switch from an ergonomic keyboard to a regular flat one about 2 weeks ago, so I'm betting that has something to do with it.

I watched Michael Bierek's Mystery of Form class on Friday. I gave the tumbling thoughts a workout just now, and it's a lot more clicky that it was before. This was done with a soft brush, unlike my previous attempts at digipaints. I'll try one with a hard brush next. Please point out any problems you see with this one. I know the shadow is crap, but I tried!

    karmiclychee: Thank you :3

Today: onions. Also a craptacular orange in the top left corner, and a computer mouse in sanguine "oil based pencil". The 3 onions in the box were done with a roller gel pen that only started flowing well about 90% through the drawing of the leftmost onion. Then it was leaky.
