    any bad ass actors under 30?

    I was trying to think of any potential action stars under 30 and I can only draw a blank. I can list dozens of amazing comedians. Seriously no square jawed bad motha fuckas under thirty.

    I guess I'd have to see prince of persia. I've only seen him in Jarhead and Donnie Darko, so I'll probably always see him as a fucked up kid. But I did think Leo could only play a limp wristed pretty boy until I saw blood diamond and the departed. But you gotta admit this list is thin.

    Jake "froggface" Gyllenhaal? no way :|

    under 30 it's hart to find because usually those boys play some romantic guys
    you become badass when you get 30 in that case, my pick is Ryan Reynolds

    ^ agreed. I guess badassness comes with age. Especially when you have more body than head hair. Then you`re really badass ;P

    Ryan Reynolds - he sure has "evolved". Have you seen him in Blade:Trinity, playing "Hide and go f*ck"? LOL

    Joseph Gordon-Levitt comes to mind. He was badass in Inception. He's 29.

    Yeah, "action hero" and "under thirty" rarely go together:
    Sean Connery was 32 when he did Dr. No.
    Clint Eastwood was 34 when he did A Fistful of Dollars.
    Chuck Norris was 32 when he did Return of the Dragon.
    Harrison Ford was 35 when he did Star Wars.
    Arnold Schwarzenegger was 35 when he did Conan the Barbarian.
    Sylvester Stallone was 36 when he did First Blood.
    Bruce Willis was 33 when he did Die Hard.

    Paddy Considine was 29 when he made Dead Man's Shoes, not an 'action hero' but the best serious portrayal of a tough guy I've ever seen, truly scary. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0419677/

    I guess Ellwell summed it up neatly. I wonder if it's just a hollywood thing or if it's just bad storytelling? Is it a lack of credibility in a young architype?

    Maybe it's something to do with physical maturity. Not many people are going to be convinced of a leading man's 'bad-assness' if he looks like he's barely come out of puberty. That's not to say that an under 30 year old actor couldn't play an action hero convincingly, but I suppose the casting is done to reflect audience expectations.

    Code:
    int age_limit = 80; // assume their retirement age is 80
    int badassness = 5; //assume everyone who starts in an action has a rating of 5

    for (int age = 30; age < age_limit; age++)
    {
          badassness = badassness * badassness^2;
    }

    cout << "\nHow badass is he/she: " << badassness;
    here's is the action snippet. in C++.

    Code:
    int age_limit = 80; // assume their retirement age is 80
    int badassness = 5; //assume everyone who starts in an action has a rating of 5

    for (int age = 30; age < age_limit; age++)
    {
          badassness = badassness * badassness^2;
          cout << "\nHow badass is he/she: " << badassness << endl;

    }
    and one for showing incrementally

    Of course not. There are plenty of badass chicks, hell Uma Thurman in the picture I just posted is a total badass.

    They're just generally 30+ too.

    Gonna have to disagree with Ripley in Alien. She went a bit unhinged and growly in Aliens, but in the former she spent a lot of time screaming and running. Most badass thing she did was chew out different members of the crew, occassionally.

    Claudia... no.

    Jodie Foster in Silence of the Lambs and Linda Hamilton in (around the end of) Terminator - both 28 when the respective movies were released - get my vote.
    ...which is only my opinion.
