    Background Dilemma

I'm completely new to drawing backgrounds.

What do you prefer to do when drawing backgrounds.

1)Draw the background and then draw the character over it.

2)Draw the character and then draw the background behind him.

3)Draw the background on one sheet and the character on another and fuse them together using the computer.

I start from the background and work my way to the foreground. Characters are positioned in the initial sketch, and then cleaned up and more or less finished as i reach that part of depth in the image.

I really hate adding environments behind finished characters, because working that way makes it hard to get the lightsources to match the way the character are lit. Theres more bad things about working that way, but i´ll let you find them out yourself.
