    Jaunay's Sketchbook ♥

Hey everyone, the name is Jaunay, pronounced (Jour-Nay) but most people just call me Red♥.

I need something to keep me motivated and to keep striving forward. Here I will be posting my
(hopefully) daily sketchbook observations and ideas. Along with my Community Activities attempts
such as COW, CHOW, IDW and DSG.

I'm an avid Deviantart user and I'm hoping to fit in with the ConceptArt crowd.

    Peace, Love and Brown Rice!~

    Sketchbook Update 24/11

Here's some more. I like the last one. I'm a fan of not using all the paper because the negative space is too nummy.

Introducing the Emperor Of the Macrocosm

Here's a concept I was working on for one of the Creature of the Week competitions. I left it too late and never got in finished, so I modified it into something I would like to travel on in space. The emperor awaits you.

    ChoW -222 - Steampunk Superhero

Here are a couple of the concept pages for one of the recent ChoWs. I missed the deadline but I hope to finish it in my own time anyways.

    ---

In the land of Williard things are quiet and calm, the town are happy and recovering after the junkwars. Williard has taken role of the town superhero, he uses his powers of mechanical regeneration to help the towns people achieve their goals, and he finds it quiet pleasing.

Willard lost his legs during the junkwars, but fortunately for him his special ability has enabled him to control any metal that has had contact with his blood. Also being an avid engineer he has been able to create a range of prototype bodies for himself, and would interchange them depending on the situation.

If in dire circumstances he can choose to expel his blood onto objects around him to create new mechanical prosthetics. But in his current peaceful predicament his favourite pass time to to escort the children around to the town to school and play.

    ChoW #223 - Barbarella

Hey peoples! I've been doing lots of research on Kitsch
and scifi, so it's taken me a bit longer than expected.

I'm not really sure where I should go from here, but I'll chunk some compositions
together and get some more up on here soon.

It's my first time drawing a sexy space woman. Getting close
to the deadline. So better keep working!

    Sketchbook Update 26/11

Although I've only posted 3 days in a row. I think I'm getting into the habits of it all. I think submitting these in pairs looks nice. So I'll do that in the future.

I was almost going to leave these in the book and not show them because I know there are errors. But alas it's learning and I obviously need it.

My excuse, the models were moving. Like a lot. Lol. The F next to his face is a short symbol of my rage.

    Daily Lifestudies Warmups.

So here are my lifestudies for the morning, feels good to get them out. I think I'll be doing these more regularly. Thanks to Koh for the Posemaniacs link. It's going to be really handy.

If there are any other resources that people commonly use on here don't hesitate to post. I mean I'm sure I'll find them eventually, but every bit helps.

    Thanks in advanced ♥

Very nice figures, as always glad to be of any help!

I seen you talking about painting techniques, saying that starting with values makes your colors dull, I'd suggest using Matt Dixon's tutorial.

It hasn't done me wrong and I start with values as well.

Hey, dude! Followed you to your sketchbook haha.

Nice work you have here. I really like your pen style and your use of negative space. Keep it up because this is awesome.

Here is a site I recently found. It lets you do timed gestures of humans and animals

    Work in Progress

Here are some things that I was working on during the weekend.

This was inspired by plants vs zombies. I planned on drawing an evil rabbid sunflower and well it kinda turned out like this. It's shooting sunflower seeds out of its mouth and hiss i suppose.

The second piece was my geyser diver entry for the Creature of the Week competition. I like this enough to show it, i don't think ill go back to this later. But fun none the less.

The third piece was how far I'm willing to show for the Character of the week competition. It's a bit bunk and shitty. I should think more about my compositions before I dive in next time.

    Sketchbook Update 30/11

Here some more out of my moleskin. I've got to remember to keep it out during the weekends. Also I feel dirty for drawing anime, I've been playing Recettear: An item shop's tale I'm not usually a fan of these types of games but this one is really addictive and now I feel like opening a store. Haha.

*shivers* Ohh now to go draw something to counteract the weeaboo inside of me.
