    diary of a nudist

just thought I'd pass on this great blog I found a while ago and have been using for studies since. hundreds of nude photos excellent for reference; most of them have to be dated from the 70s or older so they have tons with great natural lighting.

That's pretty darn awesome. I'll admit I'm slightly amused by the amount of pubic hair here and there, but it really shows the wide variety of body structures, musculature and fat placement.

I don't really understand how someone can function as a nudist. There are nude beaches, some nude retreats, nudist colonies, etc but for the most part nudity is highly restricted. Anyway, though, power to them... Our society has an irrational phobia of nudity, and it's entirely perverted that most people would choose for their children to be exposed to violence as opposed to nudity.

    And thanks for the link!

we had a nudist pose for one of our life drawing classes once. kind of ironic that full nudity isn't allowed at my school...

The thought of seeing some people I know in the nude, it terrifies me to the depths of my soul.

Phobia is the wrong word, it is a taboo.
While i am a rather very open minded person i must say that i do not wish to see some people naked at all and if i had kids i would not want them to be exposed to dangling male genitalia wherever they go.
I do understand that being partially naked all the time is very comfortable, it is hot here so at home i wear only boxer.
I also thing that being naked 247 is not really comfortable and hygienic, if you sit naked on leather and many other materials you tend to sweat and leave behind stains, also having your genitalia slap against your leg when you walk all the time is annoying.

I always tend to associate the nudism with sexuality too and i wonder why many nudism websites offer pornographic content for subscribers if hat was not the case.

Yeah like Randis said, it's mostly the hygiene issues that would pose a problem, also where I live, I'd dare a nudist to walk around naked in this time of the year unless they developed a naturally thicker skin or otherwise immunity to cold and wet. We're vulnerable beings, humans.

That, and you just don't want to see certain people naked. The nudists in the blog are mostly averagely (some even quite athletic) built people of a relatively young age. I travel a long way by train at least four days a week and I've seen a lot of different people, some who I found unsettling to look at with clothes on, let alone having to see them naked.

I'm all for everyone of all ages and shapes getting their kit off. So what if some people are a bit saggy and baggy.

I looked at the blog, and while the pictures are useful i feel like a voyeur of a sort... or pervert. I prefer "studio" nude photos, at least you can have better excuse if someone enters the room behind your back while you listen music... they sill won't believe you no matter what you say, but i don't want to be caught watching naked old guys Jokes aside, i really feel better with the studio photos, these ones are too private (even if posted on the internet).

studio lighting is unnatural and usually most studio models are ideal subjects. Outdoor photos are more natural, have more interesting colors and in this case you see 'real' people.
They are not completely nude btw see they covered their genitalia with black bear hides... oh wait no

Life drawing makes it easier. There's no shock value in it for me anymore because of that and really, it's a good thing. You can't really be abhorred by it, but still feel the potential impact felt by others who may be when someone is legitimately nude out of place. Like in the Supermarket, or at church.

could you imagine the smell they would conjure up on chili night, I'd have to establish strict rules on seating arrangements. Butt seriously I think nudist have the right to be nudists in designated places. They're shutting down the nude beach in my county. I mean it's tucked behind a nuclear power plant for heavens sake. Why the never-nudes gotta salt their koolaide? it aint like nobody can see them. Don't get me wrong I still think they're gross, but if frolicking all nude and gross makes them happy and I don't have to see it, then more power to them.

What, you don't want Jimmy greeted with a WIIIIIIIIIIIIINDMILL?

Yeah and most of the violence besides sports that kids are exposed to are fake, not to say that I really think we should be exposing our kids to a lot of violence because that has bad effects too.

I was expecting something along the lines of: "Dear Diary, I was naked today. I played golf with neighbour Ralph and I managed to get a hole in one. It got a little nippy later on however, so I had to contradict myself by wearing a woolly hat and a coat. It's difficult being a nudist...especially in winter."

I'm a firm believer in nudity, however... Being naked outside right now would be suidcide, its snowing you see. Well maybe not instant death but still...

Super great references! I love the vintage tinting of the 60's-70's photos. Now I'll be drawing a lot more normal everyday poses thanks to this.
