    A Mom's Sketchbook.

    Hello Everyone.

Since I'm new here and stuff I figured I better go ahead and dump a few of my things in here to get this sketchbook started. I'm looking forward to improving my skills and helping out beginners. Everyone needs help to improve right?

Anyways- here we go, these are a few recent pieces and not so recent pieces. From here on out though it will all be new stuff.

    Thanks for looking.

(BTW) I did not put the NSFW tag, but there may be artistic nudity or a nipple popping out from time to time. It won't be often though and that is why I dropped the tag. Thanks for understanding!

Elfling Boy - Just something fun, based on portrait of my husband when he was a boy.

Elfling Girl - Just a creature of my creation. 2004 Loosely based on an old picture of my mother when she was a child.

Dies the Fire - Just a fantasy piece. Mainly trying to work on light and fabric.

Jesus. This is a portrait for my father. My dad is a huge Christian and this will be his Christmas present. He's 85 years old and we aren't sure how many Christmas's he has left. If Jesus looks familiar to you, it's because I used Jared Leto/ Theo Theodoridis as my references. Theo's Eyes and Leto's mouth. (lol) My father won't know that though.

    Here area few more.

I'll have to take some photos of my pen/pencil on paper art later today.

Love Hurts- This was a 40 min sketch for a daily sketch at cgtalk. I liked how the concept turned out though so I'm including it here. Ultimately I'd get rid of the orange puppy and do something different though if I ever revisit this.

Calico- Just a piece to practice some watercolor technique. It's 24x36 and hangs in my living room.

OOOH It's Theo Theodoridis! He's superhot!
And your daughter is really cute too, I love how you render the translucency of her skin.
Love your brushstrokes, sense of colour and luminosity. Subscribed!

    Thanks everyone.

I use Painter and Photoshop. I usually get the composition down the way I want it in Photoshop and then paint it in Painter. Then it's back to Photoshop for any color corrections, sizing, crops etc.

Here are a few traditional art samples. I have quite a headache today and my 10 month old is upstairs sleeping so I didn't want to go upstairs and break out my sketchbooks/journals. I'll get to that one day I promise. So for now I'm just posting what I have framed on my walls downstairs. lol My apologies.

Just and acrylic on canvas circa 2003 or so. Not very good, just loving the process.
    IMG_4853.JPG

The below sketches are graphite pencil on paper. Just some fun studies on equine subjects and a color pencil bird. I love blue birds.
    IMG_4851.JPG

    IMG_4852.JPG

    IMG_4855.JPG

This was done in painter and photoshop and then printed out to hang over my kitchen cupboards. Its like size 20x40 or something like that. It's massive. It represents the "4 and 20 Blackbirds" old nursery rhyme.

Must be the headache I'm having but something made me lose my mind and I decided to start a self portrait. I haven't done one of these since art school.

So yeah. Here is stage one. Quick little photoshop sketch that took maybe 30 mins.

No, I normally do not have tree branches growing out of my head, but it feels like it today. And I plan on adding stuff to my tree to represent the constant growing/chaos that is my life. Kinda natural, kinda not, crazy, twisty, always growing. etc. blah blah more artistic mumbo jumbo.

Hi folks, thank you. All of my stuff unless other wise noted, was done in Painter/Photoshop. Typically my work flow is to set up for the painting in photoshop, then move to painter to paint, then back to photoshop for any corrections to color etc.

Here is the photo ref I used of my daughter for her portrait.

Stupidly simplistic design I did for a daily sketch at CG talk. Took me 5 mins tops.

Trying to push myself to do more "mainstream pay the bills" graphic designs and clip art.

Just working on a little sketch for my daughter. Thought a little fawn on the wall in her nursery room would be nice.

Hope to see more stuff from you soon, so keep up the good work!

I really like your stuff. It's hard to decipher the 4 and 20 blackbirds piece in that photo. Do you have a more straight-on pic? It looks intriguing.

Your graphite/pencil on paper pics are my favourite so far.
