Are you allowed to make a new sketchbook thread?

Let's say your sketch book has so much old work it looks crappy, so you want to make a second one with better work in it.

Sure, you could do that. Of course, some of the most famous and useful threads in the Sketchbook section show somebody's progress from not very good to very, very good. So, there's that. (And, in your case, you just started your sketchbook thread in September and are barely onto page two.)

Yeah I did that and I think it impeded my progress a little, I think it's just better to keep on drawing. Plus, it sets the stage for an epic comeback if you make a new one when you've made a ton of progression

Keep your old one. The more progress we see from first page to last, the better. Your sketchbook isn't there to showcase your skills so much as your development.

What the others said. Plus you'll be happy you kept it and to see your own progress, it might push you to continue harder.

I'd keep it as a whole. I've started new sketchbooks a few times, but now I feel bad for having done that ;(

I could have an awesome 29-page sketchbook instead of the 3 pages I'm at right now o.o

i'm currently on my third. i keep links to the two previous ones on the first page though. i'm not sure how many of my old pics work though. although seeing my own progress is nice,i just can't stand to look back on some of the posts/ramblings in these old ones. and yeah, sometimes you feel like you don't want your old work connected with your new work, because you've become so much better. (in your own opinion atleast)

Carni, your situation is different, since you've been here since almost the beginning. I don't think three SB threads over seven years is unreasonable.

The following link should convince you without fail of the merits of maintaining a single sketchbook thread over longer periods.

Funny thing is, without recognizing the link or address or anything, i knew exactly what sketchbook that link was to.

    Tis quite the inspiration.

I had an old sketchbook that I kept up with for a little while but then I just stopped updating for years so I figured that opening a new one last year would warrant a fresh beginning.
