Hey Ted, that last page is amazing. I'm really impressed at how you are able to utilize the full spectrum that a piece of paper and pencil alone provide. That guy on the right of the page is a clear example of what I'm talking about. Your rendering really helps me understand what I'm doing wrong. Thanks for the inspiration man. I hope you continue to treat us with your work.

    Another Hussar drawing group study.

    corky13 - Thanks.
Tigermilk - Don't bow to me. Bow to Jesus. It's not magic. Oprah is evil. Thanks for the encouragement.
obid619 - Thank you. I used to always hold my pencil like anyone who writes a love letter, but now I hold it like a paintbrush.
    KR33P - Thanks.
Dwizard2k - Thanks pal. I do like how a composition of different sessions will come together on one page of a sketchbook. Yeh, see you later.
dakoscwash - That makes me really happy to think that my drawings might inspire another artist. I have tried to use the full value range in my drawings, if time allows for it, for some time now. I think my earliest (bad) scans don't demonstrate that, but it's more clear now.
johndonahue - HA! HA! Funnytown! Messin with John! Screw you again!

Killer drawings Ted. I think some of your figure drawings are hanging in the gallery down the street from my place. On Geary in SF, It was great to see them in person.

steak-tron - None of my work is showing in a gallery in San Francisco. Maybe you can let me know about this place if they are showing the figure drawing technique I demonstrate. I am always looking for another opportunity. It's great when you reply to this thread because it reminds to check out your site and sketchbook. I really like your work. Thanks.

Very good TEd, Very good. Just one minor complaint. While your pencil skills are really good, I notice some slight shading problems with the women on the last 2 pics. It seems like the shading around the body parts isn't very gradual (like as in not blended). But, it just might be that i'm not seeing something right, meh. Can't wait for another update!.

razuel - Thanks. So fresh and so clean.
Art_Addict - Thank you. Is it that you haven't seen my work before or is there something specific you haven't seen in this thread. I just want to know if something different is jumping out at you.
obid619 - Yeh, I just wanted to concentrate on the portraits and still include as much of the figure as time would allow. So, that lack of attention to turning forms is left to suggestion ans atmosphere. Just consider the "lack of shading" as your periphial vision and your viewing experience of those pieces will be much better. In fact go ahead and do that to all of my work...there's bound to be something nice to focus on...hopefully.
ZebzFree - I am getting paid! It's fun. I need to remember that. I will keep posting. These comments are very encouraging. Thanks.
Icey - I'm glad you appreciate this. Thanks.

    Oregano - Thank you.
    legacy - Thanks, I will.
samwell - Sammy. I love my coffee black just like my metal. I love my burritos spicy just like my mexicans. I love you too. Your the latin flavor that makes the world go round.
obid619 - I'm really glad you enjoy my work. Thanks so much for your continued response and encouragement.
Red_Rook - Thanks pal. Happy eighteenth birthday.
    flaptraps - Thanks.
T-lapia - The best advice I can give is to study a particular technique of an artist or school you admire. Make sure you make it your own by allowing your personal expressionism to come through. Study the progression from David to Ingres to Chasseriau. The strongest skills come from attempting the desired effect you want in your work until you can do it in an instant without any reference or guidance from an instructor. You can't get discouraged. Make it work. The successful artists are extremely determined at the particular moment and for life. Hope those words help...I'm going to try to listen to that advice as well. Thanks for the compliment.
    Art_Addict - Thanks so much.

wow. I'm learning a lot just from looking at your work. some have a very classical look, almost like a cast study but softer.

Good rendering! I like your Japanese's drawings. Where did you catch the references? I would like to do a comic about the samurais but i donīt have enought information and photo references about it: clothes, temples..etc..

    keep posting Ted.

Pichuerca - The Japanese stuff is out of my head...I hope it's close enough to the decorations of the restaurant I was in quite awhile ago. Thanks for the compliment.
