    quick question about storing Gouache

So I bought one of those large airtight paint storage containers, you know, the type that seals up and keeps paint 'fresh for week's?'

Well weeks passed and now my guache is hard as rock, the raw sienna especially. It's all usable for the most part though, but I was wondering if their are any more practical means of restoring the wetness, in addition to learning about more practical ways of storing the stuff while keeping it all easily accessible from outside the tubes?

Thanks in advance for the feedback

Just dissolve it with a wet brush like you would pan watercolors. You can mist the palette with a spray bottle and let it sit for a few minutes first to help soften the paint.

Yeah, rewet it as if you were working with pan watercolors. You just aren't going to be able to keep gouache in a nicely mixed "ready to go" condition indefinitely, water will evaporate and pigments will separate and settle to the bottom. Eventually you will have to rewet the paint and make it "workable" again.

Storing your gouache in shallow & wide containers can make the rewetting process easier, as can spraying it with a bottle as Elwell suggested.

In my opinion, the value in the "air tight" containers is in keeping contaminants from entering the paint and causing mold. Beyond that, there isn't really much point.
