    What`s a fencer?

I know that fencing is something like stealing, because that`s what the venders in icewind dale and baldur`s gate keep telling me: "I don`t accept fenced goods", when I`ve stolen something from another merchant and try to sell it.

But why is my rank: Fencer?
    What IS a fencer?

I don`t build fences you know.
    Veni, vidi, vici.

    Here is the definition:

    fence (P)
    n.
-A structure serving as an enclosure, a barrier, or a boundary, usually made of posts or stakes joined together by boards, wire, or rails.
-The art or sport of fencing.

-One who receives and sells stolen goods.
-A place where stolen goods are received and sold.
-Archaic. A means of defense; a protection.

So by fencer, it refers to a person who fences (aka swordfights) not someone who steals or builds fences.

Es fließt durch meine Venen, Es schläft in meinen Tränen
Es läuft mir aus den Ohren, Herz und Nieren sind Motoren

Fencing is a lot like swordfighting, only you use a foil instead of a sword. There's a whole unique fighting form involved with it too.

Captain Picard used to do it in a few TNG episodes if that helps you any! :alien1:

fencing is just a term used loosely for dueling with swords.. ive often heard kendo referred to as japanese fencing.
