Titanomachy: Concept art for Dinosaurs that turn into Titans

    Hey CA,

I've recently been putting a lot of work into designing some characters for an original comic and toyline.
Its based off of the war between the titans and gods of Greek mythology and incorporates other mythologies as well; norse, egyptian, and so on.

Here's the first wave of characters initially done in marker and ink:

Titanomachy: Concept art for Dinosaurs that turn into Titans

And a more fleshed out concept:

Titanomachy: Concept art for Dinosaurs that turn into Titans

This is another initial marker drawing, soon to be more fleshed out:
Titanomachy: Concept art for Dinosaurs that turn into Titans

To clarify a bit, the dinosaurs turn into Titans/giants/ogres while the gods turn into more modern day monsters/animals.
As a play/story feature the toys come packaged as a pair. And each pair has a specific way of combining with each other.

The Utahraptor and Archaeopteryx combine to form this guy:

And the Triceratops and Brachiosaurus form this guy:

    ( I know about the torosaurus/tricera... 'news')

Overall the designs and story would be fun and over the top. But I hope to inject some serious drama into the story. More coming soon

Ah that's very cool, I love how they are all fleshy and organic. Sort of like meat transformers lol. Adds a very visceral touch.
Also really nice design on the brontosaurus guy!

I had to log in (an arduous process obviously) simply to comment on these. Biological transformers is an original concept with much potential on its own. Dinosaurs doubly so. Biological Hellenic Pantheon Dinosaur Transformers complete with Titans?
You sir, have achieved nirvana. The designs are believable, stylish and beautifully rendered with some lovely dynamic posing. Pushing this as a toy line might be difficult without compromising your vision- try games/anime/comics and the toys will follow at a far higher quality.

Wow, nice work. But if you go to manufacture them, it looks like a TON of parts...won't that be a real challenge? Especially if kids are playing with them, a little bending here and there might make the bits not go back together. Of course, then that might sell another toy :-)

I really like these. Solid mech design. I would think, though, that they would be very difficult to use in a comic because they're so elaborate?

The toyline will be a challenge, but I knew that going in. My initial thoughts for doing this included doing smaller runs of higher quality pieces, like the Yamato Macross toys, or any Hot Toys 1/6th scale figure. Or even like those super expensive ultra elaborate resin models you can find at japanese conventions

I'm really inspired by the latest movie transformer toys to really push the limit here, and I at least have to try And there will be a comic, for sure. Videogames... I've had breif thoughts of that, but gotta get done what I can when I can.

It will be a challenge, these are the initial concepts and I know I'll have to simplify things and all that, for now I just gotta get these things outta my head I think you'll like the transformation schemes I've come up with, they'll be posted soon

Well, If I can draw transformers normally in comic form I hope I could handle these. Plus it would be in miniseries format rather than ongoing.

Definitely in agreement with regards to the exposed flesh and sinew. I think it's what makes these interesting and different.

This is simply amazing and epic stuff... your skill at drawing is awesome, and these designs took a lot of both thought and imagination. Fantastic work, all around! I love the colors you use, as well.
