    Donato Giancola & oversized printing/copying

Giancola uses a technique where is makes a copy of his drawing on oversized paper. The technique described here.

    http://www.donatoart.com/technique/m.../mounting.html

I've easily found the correct type of paper but almost every copy place I've called says they can only print on their own cheap paper because most oversized copiers print from a roll of paper and can't be form feed.

I'd really like to try this technique and was wondering if others had tried it and if they'd had much luck getting this done.

I did find one place that could form feed his plotter but he wanted 6 dollars per square foot whereas Giancola recommends getting it done using engineers oversized copy machine because it's only a $1 or $2 per square feet.

    Hi bfowler.

In his video he mentions "Kinko´s" which does not say anything to me since we don´t have it here in Germany. Maybe you know what he means.

    Hope this was helpfull.

Thanks. Yeah, Kinko's is a large chain of copy/print places here in the states. I've got his DVD too and Kinko's is the first place I called. They told me they only print from the rolls.

I've tried this technique with regular copy paper on a small scale. It would conceivably work on a large scale with their paper, though you can probably expect some tears and wrinkles.

Just thought I'd post an update. I emailed Donato and he said to try the self serve machines at Kinko's.

I just decided to mount the original. I used some 134lb. Canson drawing paper. I tested it by just mounting it straight up with Mat Medium without wetting it down to stretch it and with wetting it down. There wasn't in difference in the mountings.

I also used pencil and heavy charcoal on the papers, then spray fixed them before mounting them. No smears form the charcoal and no problems from the spray fix.
