    Post your absolutely FAVORITE composition...

    A thought:

Post up your absolutely favorite composition.

1 post only per person. 1 composition only per post.

Not a design. Not a sketch A full blown composition.

Make the hard choice to find the one single solitary composition that in your heart of hearts you think is your undeniable favorite. The one that haunts you. Not the one you think you should like. Or the one you think you are supposed to like. The one you are fascinated by.

Try to list the artist and date.

except thanking other posts using the thanks button so every post contains one composition and the thread is clean and quiet. If you have a question, pm me, rather than cluttering up the thread. I think there is entirely too much talking about art and not enough appreciation using just the eyes and mind. Attract attention to the art, not yourself. Make this a gallery of artistic treasures that speak for themselves.

    Might be interesting.

"A drawing is not necessarily academic because it is thorough, but only because it is dead. Neither is a drawing necessarily academic because it is done in what is called a conventional style, any more than it is good because it is done in an unconventional style. The test is whether it has life and conveys genuine feeling."- Harold Speed

"Everything must serve the idea. The means used to convey the idea should be the simplest and clear. Just what is required. No extra images. To me this is a universal principle of art. Saying as much as possible with a minimum of means."

    John Singer Sargent
    "Daughters of Edward Darley Bolt"

As a composer of pictures I always thought Sargent was underrated.
