Very nice, you're making me feel lazy man. That Reynolds is too awesome. I relaly need to get around to doing some more soft work like that. I kno wI rely on line way too much and really need to learn to lean on color and value, shape more. Thanks for reminding me with your wips.

Haven't posted in a couple of days, but have done a lot of scribbles - nothing very finished though.
Here's my last 15-min speed composition for the contest running over on ArtOrder right now. I think I will probably head this way instead of with the previous dwarf sketch. I like this one a lot more. Obviously, just a little value scribble - I'll post progress if I stick with this one.

Another photo-study - well, film-still study. This one went really quick - probably only 2 hours.

Process anim too, as per usual.

Here's tonight's 4-hour project - I think this is the closest I've ever gotten to what I intended from the outset and had in my head. The photo studies are definitely helping me with fundamentals.

No specific reference used for this - some little bits and pieces for the purse of the lips and the position of the hand.

If these process animations are annoying to load, let me know and I'll cut down on them. I just think they're sort of fun to look at.

Fantastic work. For your original/creative designs do you typically use multiple references + imagination and mix it all together or do you solely go from your imagination?

in2eternity - thanks again! Love that last portrait you did in your SB.
    Schen - thank you!
    thegrayslayer - Muchas Gracias man!

BlueHabit - Thanks! As for reference, it's a mix. Some are pure imagination ( demon portrait, dwarf, the sketch for ArtOrder ), some are mostly imagination with a bit of reference ( love sucks ), and some are heavily refed for practice ( the Tiefling ). I seem to be getting into a rhythm of doing one or two photo studies, then an original. It's really rewarding because you ALWAYS pick something up from the photo studies, and then it immediately gets applied to something fun.

I hate posting without new art, so here's a 40-min jobbie that I just randomly scribbled. Slopped some color on a page and found something in it - I tried to stay as loose as possible. No linework. You can see from the process anim that it doesn't change much.

thx keep up the good work
Well, I finally got around to this. I ended up pulling off his headgear - drawing bandanas is no fun I did this one fairly quickly - probably about an hour and a half or so. I procrastinated too long and wanted to get something done before I put it off again.

I deliberately went less WoW style on the portrait, and tried to do a bit more of a scratchy, Drew Struzan movie poster sort of look.
