Dear God this 4th page will never end!!! pld:
EDIT: Wooooot! I have a new page in my artsy life
But I'm so pumped after watching the bloodsports results, it was hillarious

fenixx, I'm so waiting for you to update too, do it!
You are so totally right about the stupid grass thing brush. It sucks. So I reworked that part, I hope it's not so shitty anymore.
And the Vilppu studies I'm doing now is totally opening my eyes. So big thanks to you dude.
And thanks for the golden links, I can eat them like a starving granny eats candies

tsabu, thanks for the good words, appreciate that
Have you hacked my webcam or somthin?! Because Feng Zhu is exactly what I'm watching in these last days. His approach is a bit different, he is working in grayscale and then put a color layer on top of that. Probably I should do that too, because there is no point of nice colors if the values are totally wrong.

Lumens, thanks for stepping by, you are so right about the brushes, a year ago I was telling the same to others "don't use all those fancy brushes!, learn the basics", now I have forgot it, thanks for reminding me that So I made a new enviro study only with one brush.

So here we go, tumdurum, the studies of last couple days:

Haha, it's nice you try to use your imagination as source for drawings. Such works are always the most interesting ones. Keep this up!

Great to see updates !!!!! =D

Then pen sketches, do you directly sketch them with pen or with a pencil first ?
Also, good to see that you are working from imagination too, I should do that more too

How are your Vilppu figure studies coming along ?

Awww, gaaad, I haven't updated for ages.
Must figure out how to force myself to draw more regular

    Fenixx!
Great to see that you're back and updating too. And you are somehow doing that more often than me, I don't know how you manage to do it.
The pen sketches are the pen sketches , no penciling before them. I heard somewhere that it helps to practice more comfident lines. But they suck, yes.
And you should definately push more to imaginative stuff. Vilppu totally opened my eyes on how to draw what's in your imagination (I sent you PM).
Lately I'm slacking on Vilppu studies, but now I'm back

Jansi, that copic thing was from reference (raving rabbits), it's not my idea And I'll keep up, thanks!

Robert88, Thank you for looking at all that stuff back there, I'm happy you like this stuff

Back to Vilppu gesture studies, also very frustrating.
So. I decided to do 50 gesture figures till the end of this week (4th March) to force myself work more regularly. I can doooo iiiiiit!!!

    Monday - 12 of 50 gestures
Hmm, they don't look like gesture drawings, going too much into details

I don't know why I was so afraid to draw from imagination.
Now I think it's an important part of learning process, even if it looks crappy.

Woooohyeah 100 gestures in a week, nice!
Your imaginary drawing is not bad, you have some narritive going on.
I know the feeling of stagefreight, happens when you get too comfortable doing just studies.

Buuut, really nice stuff here, I especially like the digital and the brush pen (I guess?) things keep at it!

But I crawled back and hope to stay on for a while

Lumens, thanks, that means a lot for me to hear that imaginative stuff is not that bad
David W, heh, I know, that guy is just wierd. Thanks, I'll try to keep at it.

    Some drawering from past...
Vilppu study. Learned that he forced his students to draw gestures 6 hours straight, each gesture for 13 seconds. Instead of practising gestures for years.
Maybe I should try that, hmm...

Thanks for all the crits! much appreciated.
Honestly i'm having a tough time coming up with usefull feedack.
it comes down to drawing fundaments.. You're doing gestures wich is great!

Ask yourself what am i neglecting? isolate the problem, spend like a week on something really challenging and most of all be consistent and have fun.
like the 100 gestures in a week, thats awesome!

The white prisma color sketches look like all kinds of fun, why not try something stupidly hard? like a frazetta masterstudy.

Lumens, HUGE thanks for the advices, direct hit, exactly what i need. You are damn right, I should challenge myself more and step out of the comfortable zone.
My next moves = fundamentals + challenges
Should be a good formula to improve. Thank you Lumens for stepping by and kick in the butt

Started something stupidly hard, Frazetta masterstudy

Some more work on Frazetta study. There's like a ton of mistakes. Can't get the colors right.

    Hi,
always nice to see other artists beeing busy.
    On the Frazetta study:
I'd suggest only concentrate on one thing while studying. Either anatomy or colours and the anatomy part looks really good on this one. Dont worry about the colours.

Hey it looks like a recognisable frazetta girl

I'd say focus on values more than colors.
More or less what shockowaffel already mentioned.

Frazetta is a master of power compositions, you will find almost exclusively piramid shapes and upside down piramids.
Watch how he conveys a sense of action and dynamic by having his most important figures leaning in a diagonal direction. Keep it upp!
