    Wheel of Time replacement

As it was my first ever delve into the novel reading hobby, I tend to see other books as not as good. But I am on book 12 and because its almost to its conclusion, I am wondering if there is another huge epic story to follow other than Wheel of Times. I loved how this book would go in deep with detail, but to not overdo things like I felt Tolkien had. I hear about Terry Goodwin, and I tried his books, but never quite liked them like The Wheel of Time. Any books out there I would like?

I have to confess that my taste probably strongly differs to yours as I didn't like the WoT books. I don't think I managed to finish the first one.

My suggestion to look at though would be George R.R Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. They're pretty gritty and violent, but I think a lot of people like them including myself.

You can always check out an excerpt and see for yourself. I'm not entirely sure who else is big in the fantasy genre at the moment.

You can try Steven Erikson's Malazan series. It may be that your brain's been ruined forever by WoT, but if you liked Song of Ice & Fire then there's hope.

Neill Stephenson's "Cryptonomicon" is 1,100 pages, and has a sort of gigantic prequel called "The Baroque Cycle", which is another 2,500 pages. He writes like a coherent Thomas Pynchon.

That'll keep you busy and out of trouble for a while.

David Gemmell has a huge collection of books all written in the same universe. Seriously epic fantasy great stuff. I recommend white wolf, the second one (cant remmeber the name) and basicly any orther book hes written they are some sweet stuff. not as much background as a wheel of time book, he just throws you striaght in and as you read more books you build up a picture of his world though the ages
