    I Met Vilppu!!!!

    Hey guys,
I was just excited and had to tell someone...today, Glenn Vippu visited my school (Savannah College of Art and Design) and held a figure drawing demonstration. So I got to draw with him for like three hours, and chat with him afterwards. He is really an awesome guy. If any of you dont know who he is, he's one of the best drawing teachers there are. He's worked at Disney, taught at numerous institutions, and I also think the taught Kevin Chen, who has a really cool thread here. Anyway, I just wanted to brag/gloat/ whatever...I'm just really excited. Peace!

Im going to go see him tomorrow morning

Ive seen a few of his videos during the friday life drawing sessions. It'll be great to see him work in person. I think Im gonna shake his hand and try to steal his artistic skill.

    Hey Faxtar,
What's your major/year etc. at SCAD? Have fun tomorrow, Vilppu is really awesome. Very personable and humble. He just stayed and talked with us for like 20 min. after the demo. I have a new respect for the guy. Apparently he joined Disney same time Phil Young did...a new Animation prof here. Anyway...have an awesome time. Learn all you can, and if you manage to nab his skill.....post it here, I'll download it. Peace!

Nice! How'd you come by that one? I just got him to do a little sketch on my drawing pad...and he signed my copy of the Vilppu drawing manual. That's a really nice pic though.

I attended one of his classes in LA, which my sister regularly attends...she somehow got a framed original which she bequeathed to me....looking at it up close...it's amazing at the delicate linework and value he's used.

wow, there's SCAD people in so many different forums talking about Vilppu...have fun. He came to my college back in '00 and I had lunch with him afterwards; it was great. He used this nifty pen that held ink & water at the end; like a "wash" pen. Wish I had one of those.
