Rob's Sketchbook. Oils! i love oils!

    Hi, Im Rob....

and i have been slacking for some years now.. its time for me to get my shit togather and learn, draw, paint and be myself again..

here i posted my only 4 paintings for the last 2 years.. yea i know its bad.. ill try to scan some pencil drawings later.

    hope u enjoy it..
(don't my grammar.. i know it sucks, sorry for that)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
the first one.. i saw that painting in a book somewhere.. i allways painted quite small.. this my first big one.. its 105 cm x 150 cm.

second one is from a picture tho i tryed to use the same collours as in the first.. this one is also 105 cm x 150 cm.

3th is from picture ref, tho i also used the freedome to use my own colours..
    this also is 105cm x 150 cm.

the 4th is a study of Rembrandt, I enjoyed this quite a lot.. this also quite big.. its around 93 x 122 cm.

    they all Oil on board..

    hope u enjoy them.

I really like the last painting in your first post. If you get serious about drawing and painting I'm sure you'll get very far. Looking forward for more.

You have a good ability to paint form, looks liek you could benefit from some more life drawing studies and anatomy studies. I really like the hands you did

First is a hand study from life.. and a back study from a movie on the internet.

2th and 3th are doodlings in class from mind.

4th is a selfportrait.. collered with watercoller.

    hope u like it.
    crits are allways welcome.

The first painting is rather well done, I like the highlights and the shading.

With the 2nd painting, the hands are really well done - but there's something odd I feel with the lower body.

With the 3rd painting, there's something about the face that I can't quite figure out. It looks a bit weird. The hair is rather well done. And whilst I can see that the eyes aren't too far up the face, there's something off about it that I can't quite place.

And the Rembrandt piece is well done. Didn't the original maidservant have blonde hair? Great work on the drapery.

However, your pen drawings are really good. Love the cross hatch shading on it.

    Keep at it!

"Never regret thy fall from grace, O' spirit of Icarian flight, for the greatest tragedy of them all to face, is to never feel the burning bright"
Believe my lies, for I tell the truth about them. Or would you rather me lie about telling the truth?

thanks Rabbi. yea i agree to u about that 3th paining.. i got the same feeling on it. maybe i redo it some day. and totally change her face. but i just let the painting rest for a while. so i can focus and learn from other things.

nah don't think the original got some blond hair. at least not in the book that i found . tho it was some crappy ass picture .

here 2 new selfportraits.. they kinda made from a feking small mirror :/. both made with a pen i found somewhere in my schoolbag.

yea i make everyday a portrait.. i should update more often tbh. this just crap the rate im updating now. and i should pick up digital painting too... ah well hope im settled soon in tilbrug. so i have more time.

I was going to say that your drawings felt kinda flat. But in the last image, the left (from our view) eye has some serious depth going on!

The first self portrait is much better than the second. Feels like you rushed the proportions and anatomy on the second and it looks kinda funny. But the first one is great!

I really like the way your work looks. i can see that you enjoy color alot and that you have an eye for it.

One suggestion is to sloooooooooooooow down. Maybe even pick up the lasso tool on somethings and treally try to understand what is going on between the colors as they progress from areas of light to dark.

Keep up the good work and keep doing awesome art!

I really like that last portrait, great use of colours! I think if the palm was longer and where it meets the arm the dark line makes it look like it's two separate objects stuck together, if you lightened it up it may fix that.

    Can't wait to see more!

You have beautiful oil painting here, good colour sensibility. For your numerics pieces your should use a 100% opacity brush with the pen pressure, on painter the oil pastel are great.

LM.. > thanks u.. tryed to use around 20% opasity now.. feels about the same.. think my drivers aren't installed propperly.. as its not responding to pressure that much.

here a fast new portrait.. trying some other expressions.
