Things you want to see/never want to see in your lifetime?
So yeah, i was kinda bored and figured this might provoke some interesting discussion, I'm just curious what sorts of things people want to see and/or dont ever want to see in their lifetime.
My thing that i'd like to see has always been flying cars. Not some crappy misc. gadget by some sweedish inventor, i mean widespread, mainstream flying car usage, cleverly designed, etc. I may add to this list in another post in this thread but for me, flying cars.
Not like to see... hmm... kind of a negative subject but probably nuclear warfare or something like a plague/superflu. The plague one is a bit silly since we havent had a great plague in some time, but when i think about things that would suck, that ranks high on my list. Also the superflu thing is there because after reading The Stand by Stephen King, theres likely an undeniable amount of suck involved in something like that.
Anyone else have some stuff they want to see in their lifetime? Any of those things been fulfilled? or hope to never see?
"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

Off the top of my head. Most of these are probably both want to see and don't, depending on situation.

I want to live long enough to see intelligent life discovered on earth.
I do NOT want to sit at a counter eating and look up to see my proctologist sitting opposite me eating a cheeseburger and fries...
I want to see Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin and Glen Beck coated in aluminum circling the earth at 1,200 miles as microwave reflectors for PBS and the NEA Grant Channel.
I do NOT want to find three anatomically correct blow-up dolls of Woody Allen under my bed when I sober up.
I want to see US politics made an Olympic Sport.
I do NOT want to be forced into the search party after someone asks, "Have you found Jesus yet?"
I want pumpkins to taste like chocolate chip cookies.
I do NOT want the 300-pound Samoan guy named "Little Tease in Pink" from Facebook to show up on my doorstep.

Breakthroughs in positive human genetic engineering that could help to increase healthy life span and eliminate major diseases etc. or something cool like that. And generally being alive long enough to see where science progresses and to learn more about life and the universe.

There's nothing silly about a major flu considering the number who died from flu last year (hell, every year). It's all a question of numbers, and with so many humans all over the world, coming into contact with so many bugs and them mutating, and then the people flying all around the world... It's only a matter of time. The latest fear is some resistant bacteria originating from India that might travel around. We'll see what happens this fall/winter... I just hope my son doesn't get seriously ill again. Larengitis and rotovirus kept him in the hospital almost all December...
Let's see, let's start positive. What I want to see:
1. Some more Tarantino films. It'd be great if he could get some Mina Mazzini songs in.
2. Some more Coen brothers films
3. Some more Charlie Kaufman films
4. The world switch to a sustainable system of gathering resources, mostly switching to solar energy.
5. My children grow up healthy and happy
Note, I'm starting small, and working my way up
6. My wife happy with me after many years of marriage
7. A new education movement sweeping across America, with actual results to show
8. An Art education movement sweeping across the world, fueling a renewed interest and respect for the arts.
9. A democratic China, through peaceable means.
10. An ethical politico in Russia to stomp out corruption, bolster the courts, and put it on the way to a real democracy.
11. Getting the fat cats out of politics in America, and elsewhere.
12. Actually being proud of myself as an artist...
13. More, new good music/bands. Probably the next new album by the Decemberists.

I want to see a world where people are happy to disagree with other people.
And I want to see a world where we can celebrate and enjoy the differences of culture, thinking and colour. Where everyone is interesting and has a view that people can empathise with. Where disliking a person isn't seen as a hate crime. A world where we consider other people's feeling first before posting. And a world where we understand when people fall short of being ideal.
