Lightbulb Looking for an Artist (orientalism)

    Hi, guys,

wonder if you can help me out here, I´ve stumbled upon this orientalism painting a couple years ago but never managed to figure out who is the autor.

    Do you recognise it?

    Thanks.

It doesn't finish loading. It's all fuzzy.

I´m sorry about that, it´s fuzzy because I magnified it, the original was like a tiny little stamp.

    Here´s a smaller version:

    Tineye found this.

But obviously, a CD that just USES the image isn't too much help. Sorry.

Thank you, Psychotime, I had never heard of Tinyeye but it sounds like a very cool search engine.

It's still too young to find much stuff, though. It only found that one image.

Seeing that picture reminds me of this painting by Frederick Arthur Bridgman, just in terms of set-up.

It also reminds me of Gerome, but I've never seen it before.

I went through over 300 Ori' pieces last night (GAAAAGG!), including everything Gerome ever did apparently, and couldn't find anything even close. Is there a possibility it's a portion of a much larger painting, or even a reinterpretation for commercial purposes?

I'm also thinking that it might be possible to track it down by searching for the CD (Album) that the piece was used for. They would have to give credit of some kind to the artist for such an obvious usage.

Worth a try, but they might not have given credit if the thing is out of copyright (if it's not from a collection that has it covered by copyright, it could be technically public domain...)

The odds are they got it from one of those fine art stock collections, like the Bridgeman Art Library. You might find it by checking the most popular fine art stock collections...
