I know about the Art in America annual issue. Still what other resources are there that list galleries and museums? thanks.

Hey kevs, I've wondered about that too. In the past I've always just googled for them, like "art museums in Minneapolis." You can usually find a decent list that way. Otherwise I did a little searching and there's a list of a lot of the major museums around the world on Wikipedia here. Also, artcyclopedia.com has a pretty good list by location that would be helpful here. Hopefully that helps.

Why not use citysearch.com, and search in the appropriate city?

Or TimeOut, if there is one for your city...

It does when you know the who, what, where, & when.

Any research requires such things...which the OP did not supply.

Soooooo, there's that. Anything worth knowing, is worth researching.

    Speaking of Google and research...

Google "gallery guide" and the city of your choice and you may get what you're looking for. (Assuming your city of choice has galleries, and at least one gallery guide.)

    thanks Guys.
yeah -- looking for more comprehensive solutions similar to the art in America yearly listing. Sadly, they may have no competition.
