Lots of fun . . . good luck everyone.
Ran out of time really, there is lots more I'd liked to have done: more drapery detail, finish the hands, ear and hair, add more background detail. But here it is anyway. I didnt plan the piece at all, just fired in and started painting, lots of blobby paintovers on new layers and erasing back - then merging down and painting on top on a new layer. At the end I added a 'glaze' layer of acidic yellow and used layer blending modes to unify the tones. The weakness here was not enough drawing and no planning but sometimes planning kills the enjoyment for me.

Hope I'm in time, though slipped a bit off the brief
Feels like a lifetime since I participated in here - hope I made it.
Was heavily influenced by classic Sumi-e and Rinpa style paintings, and a bit by the Kurosawa movie 'the Throne of Blood', though I didn't directly reference the movie.
Got so into the style, that I even tried to make my pic look like an old sliding door, like the ones you can see in castles and old mansions, in Japan.
Edit: Wips over here

So many beautiful entries!
Rushed, but I tried.
I suppose no matter what I'm drawing, there will always be some sort of question in my mind about it. A work of art (even cartoon art) is never really finished; it is abandoned.
_ Brooke McEldowney,
Nice round everyone! There were so many entries we had to make a few necessary cuts:
Cortheas: You have to show at least 3/4 of the character
Yazuki Wolf: There were no wips with your final
Again, amazing round, hope you had fun and see you in the next!
