Umpa- Thanks a lot! Get loose, you'll enjoy it.

Vulpes- I try not to concern myself with how finished something looks, almost to a fault...

    Tron- Thanks. More are coming!

Pigeon- I've been trying to push myself to use exaggerated colors to describe skin tones instead of sticking with pasty ordinary ones. Thanks for your comment!

I like that voldemort and HP sketch, although voldemort doesnt really look that menacing. might have to do with him being smaller and slenderer than harry, or maybe it's his dark nose.
The last portrait is nice, but she looks pretty pale; could use a bit of pink in her cheeks I think. Good stuff

I wasn't sure whether to make him smaller or bigger than Harry. Thanks for the insight!

My sketches so far for this week's character of the week:

    http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=225277

The planet of Seren is a beautiful, serene place ruled over by a young Queen. As kind and remarkable as the people of Seren are, they have one tradition which is regarded as barbaric by most other planets in the system. When a new Queen is crowned, she undergoes a ceremonial blinding, a process which is believed to allow the woman to 'see truth' and therefore rule her people better. Whilst normally the Queen is an adult when she comes to be crowned, the current Queen was only a child when she came into power.

This weeks challenge is to design the young Queen, now in her teens, in a ceremonial gown, preparing for the summer celebrations of Seren. The clothing needs to be lightweight but also lavish and extravagant.

    Designing for Film:
This week's design is aimed at a film character. Whilst that should not limit your design, we would like you to consider the materials, fabrics and elements etc that your designs are made out of.

    The Guidelines:

    Must be a FEMALE character
    Must be a young teen
She has been ceremonially blinded so consider the process; did it scar? did it remove her eyes completely?
Consider the climate of the planet
Designs do not have to adhere to any earth cultures.
Must clearly be a Queen so please try to avoid casual style clothing.
Can be any style or genre

Starting to look really good. I am not sure her regalia is quite fitting a queen. Her frock is good, but the robes and setting make her look more exotic shaman in my opinion. I mean, queens in robes could happen but to me they would need to have lits of texture and patterning. Something gaudy and maybe overly elaborite. Not clothing that would be easy to get around in. Granted, that is probably my love for the medieval talking - any just my humble opinion.

Nice work Count! I'm jealous of your recent landscape work, it's looking sweet. Looking at them small on my phone I thought they were photos at first!!

Hey Count, what kind of brushes are you using on your landscapes? You've got some nice textures going on there.

    Big big update.

I've noticed that my colors and lines are way too rough around the edges. How do I fix this? I think I should do more life studies.

Thanks a lot, Kevin. I've been struggling with that idea of "style". In the concept art field, hard lines and stuff with harder lines doesn't seem to be welcome. Anyway, I'll keep on posting here.
