I don't think there is a Show History thing in painter... however, i am using 7 so it may have changed.

As for the colouring under your lines, you could do one of two things: Either redraw the lines on a seperate layer by tracing over the lines on the canvas OR you can put the line drawing in Photoshop first and use the channels etc. and clear all the white leaving just the lines and then bring it into painter using File->Place.

Like I said, I am only using 7 so it may be different. Hopefully, it will help you.

There is no history palette in Painter (at least to the current version 8.1). There is however a maximum of 32 levels of undo (Corel Painter 8> Preferences> Undo), although you may need to set the undo level lower than the maximum allowed, depending on your system resources.

Athos Boncompagni has a Quicktime tutorial covering drawing on layers (and under coloring). The tutorial was created in Painter 7, but should hold for painter 8 too (albeit with some differences in the interface).

    Hi,

    It's Edit > Preferences > Undo.

    Open your scanned linework.

Use Ctrl/Command+A to select the entire Canvas.

Using the Layer Adjuster tool (click the F key), click inside the selection to lift the linework to a Layer.

Set the Layer's Composite Method to Gel. Now the white background is (visually) transparent.

Open New Layers and in the Layers list, click and drag them below your linework Layer, then do your coloring on the Layers.

This works in Painter 6, Painter 7, and Painter 8.

Please do not PM me with Painter questions. Instead, post them here where everyone can benefit from them. Thanks!
