Coffee table/photography books on any subject.

I searched for a thread like this, only came across websites on the subject, so hopefully its cool for me to start this thread.

I'm wondering if anyone can recommand any good picture books on said topic? I've searched on amazon and gotten a few results, but no reviews to go off, or pictures to view.

While I'm asking for Urban exploration mainly, I'd also like to know if anyone knows of or owns any good reference books (good quality picture books) on any subject.

If anyone is looking for books like I am, I have a semi large collection I use for reference and can recommand and review them if anyone wants.

    Thanks

I actually have a few books on the subject. One is called "American Ruins" and there are a few other ones that are okay. Unfortunatly most books on the subject are terrible, very expensive with too few pictures. The only truely great one I've ever come across is call Detroit Deconstructed, its a big, expensive coffee table book, but worth every penny.

It has some truely amazing pictures, inculding one from inside an abandoned highschool that has a melted clock. I've actually been to a lot of the places in the book and it really captures the feel of the places depected.

Thanks guys, brilliant sites and pictures. I'll def be getting hold of those books, at least the amazon one, since I dont know about the shipping on the US ones.

Does anyone have any Photography books on any subject they would recommend? A good portraiture book would be nice, I only ask for books over sites because I find it hard to work off the computer into a sketchbook, and there is just something about books that are...well.... better, dunno if anyone can relate to that?

    Anything like these;

Subject matter aside, this is a spectacular photo archive; http://www.amazon.com/Aftermath-Worl.../dp/0714846554

If anyone could post pics/names of books they use for reference/pleasure, that would be great.

    Thanks guys

I love books by Taschen. The images are high-quality, and their collections are interesting and beautiful. They have books on just about every conceivable art topic depending on how much you want to spend.

See I saw the topic of coffee table books any subject and was going to offer up
Armed America: Portraits of Gun Owners in Their Homes.

I don't really have anything to offer for urban exploration. I am going to check out the suggestions that have already been posted! But above is my contribution based on the thread topic

Check out flea markets too, photobooks are very expensive when new but they are sold for peanuts there and you may stumble upon less known but very interesting ones. Plus you can always flip through them to see if they are worthwhile while in libraries they are often sealed.

Ah thank you Biglu! I remember seeing that book ages ago and thinking it was fantastic, but I forgot the name.

Like Senira I think Taschen books are great - but they do vary sometimes in quality. Some of the translations don't sound quite right in English, but overall they're good.
