Excellent work Lancer! The studies are really payaing off. The rendering in that piece with the girl at the pillar and the mech is superb!
I don't think I can say much after Andrew's succinct points above, other than possibly to correct the character's gaze so she could be looking at one of the tentacles rather han looking at something outside the frame.
Also, since she has sliced through one of the tentacles, you could possibly reverse the direction of it's head into what might be a more likely pose, as well as distinguishing it from the others (not sure if that would affect composition though).
Also, Morrigan's feet seem far too small, bear in mind that feet are supposed to be of a similar lenght to the forearm (hard to imagine but it gives you an idea of where you could be aiming). Similiarly, the values on the foot facing us seems to make it feel shorter still. Also, maybe it's just me but her ears and the side edges of her face seem a little too well lit for the lighting scenario.
Seconding Andrew again, you've really progressed recently (the study in post #450 is spectacular!), gotta do more work now myself to catch up!
andrew: aaaaa good points man, thanks. gotta finish that one up! but first comes that dragon challenge
MacTire: good points from you too, thanks for the crit
Aryeh: that would be cool if you could make it, but i found out that its 425 per person, not for the whole group. i got confused because 425 was more than the "early bird special" they had. its 375 before june 30 and 500 after that :/
not quite dead. had to finish up packing to move back to cali for the summer. and THEN, when i got back, lo and behold, i discovered my parents had recently purchased all 4 of the game of thrones books and season 1 on dvd. ahaaaaa so good. read book one and finished watching the show so should be back up to speed.
heres about half of the things from the last 2 weeks. too lazy to put up the rest right now D:
Fuck man, crazy good entry! I think you've definitely got a very good chance at winning The only thing bothering me slightly is the wings are very opaque (I'm a bit of a sucker from translucent wings and subsurface scattering though!). I find where there is a bit of the underside of the wing showing, it seems very dark and flat. But other than that it's really solid--liking shapes against the sky.

wow I love those beast sketches, and the ones of the pokemon. I dont really have any obvious crits for you, although I would suggest planning something like that dragon piece (which is very good btw) out in values first...
Oh actually, looking at it again I just noticed that the colours in the foreground should really appear more saturated than those in the rear, which doesnt happen to the current version. If you just select those with the lassoo tool and quickly desaturate the area (ctrl +U ) you'll gain some perspective in less than a couple of minutes
Congratz on all the recent success man!! Your last few pages are really concentrated and shows a lot of work time and effort is paying off for you.
How do you do backgrounds like that, with the dragon and the trees and all.
do you make one tee head and make it a brush preset?
your well developed enviros really make your art wonderful in finsihed pieces especially.
The Kappa entry was really good
Nice stuff for the slums activity thing as well. Same question as with the dragon, how do you do BG's like that? have really drawn all those tiny japanese symbols or is it like a brush combined with something?
Anyways man, i wish you success in your future career(you don't need it)
can't wait to see what you post in the coming years
Sporus: hey thanks man all those foliage textures were hand painted. lots of brush strokes haha. on the slum image all those chinese characters and most of the buildings were from photo textures i then painted over. ill post the photos in the teen challenge thread later
