    Here's my entry!

I didn't know someone had already done the "canister" ammo thing... Ooops! Should have checked out here before painting.

    My description :

1.Particle beam weapon (PBW) - heavy gun that fires intense beams of compacted high-energy particles, using a replaceable power cell. Useful mainly as a support weapon, it is effective agains both infantry and vehicles.

2.Lightning weapon (LW) - close-quarters-battle rifle that emits a powerful lightning. Depending on the intensity chosen, it can be lethal or non-lethal, and is useful to take out large groups of enemies or concealed targets.

    IDW #133 Energy Guns

I did a modular weapons platform, on which every kind of energy weapon can be mounted. Here two of them. Description included.

phew, didnt think id make the deadline

    1. thermal gun, magnifies the power of a live dragon far beyond its natural capabilites, allowing the wielder to liquidise sheet rock up 30 metres away.

    2. side arm which fires extremely highly charged balls of electricity, truthfully these are simply pissed of electro-frogs

Notes on this round: I'm sad to have to do this, Jonny Dark, but your entry did not make it to poll as it did not have a write up- yes it had descriptive labeling, but a write up involves full sentences and a basic outline of how it works.

It's great to have this turnout everyone! Great job.

As much as I enjoyed Ragtag's quality, I voted for Etheral. His guns are very imaginative, and have a neat Gears of War feeling to them. The others are great as well, two entries are a little too assault-rifle like. They're great designs, but without the explanation you'd think they'd just fire bullets.

I thought everyone did a great job, and all of the entries were certainly imaginative and well-conceived. But I have to say my favs were Ragtag and Ricardo, probably for the same reason that TimM didn't vote for them. I really dig the look of guns, and I prefer even futuristic ones to look real and believable, so I voted for Ragtag (they looked just a bit more "futuristic" than Ricardo's).

Ricardo, I'm guessing you used the FN SCAR as inspiration, correct? That's a cool-looking weapon, and you did a good job of still making it your own. I always like it when a future gun is designed so you can still tell what it may have been based on.

But I ended up voting for Ragtag, as I said. I liked the design itself, but I also appreciated the way you described their functionality with manual-like detail. Very well done.

*ahem* This is the equivalent of a worldwide public conversation my dear IDW folks. If a subject cannot be discussed without vulgarity, said vulgarity will be deleted. Thank you.

I voted for for Ricardo because i loved the simplicity of the design and how well the idea was pulled out. As you can see he was interested in an approach to get a real life feeling to the weapons, i can imagine our armys using those weapons in 20 - 30 years time which is the "future"

As for my approach i just wanted to do some shape manipulation as always and put some nice painted effects on that, i hope to improve in the designs of my shapes though, so cant wait for a mech assignment.

I hope to be the best i can be... nothing less

First of all, please forgive my english.

    Tom:
It was in fact my intention to create a realistic design. I admit that perhaps I should have gone for a more futuristic feel but Im glad you like it anyway

    Cozmo:
You are right, I used the FN SCAR as inspiration as well as some other modern firearms

    Ragtag:
Your image is great, man ; I really liked the "modular platform" idea. Did you used 3D to help with the guns perspective ?

    @Ricardo Costa:

yeah I use a rough 3D model as base for my later overdraw most the time, as it helps avoiding perspective troubles but mainly because it saves much time.

    Thanks for the appreciation!

I voted for RagTag... Most believable IMO, and who can deny that craft...

I know I'm ages late to the party on this one, but I finally finished this one off... just thought I'd post it here in case any of you are feeling generous enough to give me a crit.

@ KarylGilbertson: Thanks, I have to say I like your Greystone Logo the most!
I had no muse to figure out a better one so I just used a generic letter logo, but yours looks pretty neat! I like your elastic gun very much, kinda reminds me of startrek, dunno why exactly.

@ragtag Thanks man! I guess it doesn't hurt that the font I used in my logo is the same one used in your avatar
