btw, nobody seems to have brought up the fact that illustrated porn is sometimes hot BECAUSE its illustrated. i've seen drawings of things that totally turned me on, but if i saw it in real life would probably make me barf. you can totally draw a chick fuckin a horse and make it look hot/sexy (if you're really good), but in real life? chick fucking a horse?.... no.
proof? have you ever seen a real doll? did you know they make real dolls that look like anime characters?
anime characters are so far removed from real anatomy that they're practically not human at all. the guy who goes out and buys an anime real doll isn't turned on by a human, he's turned on by the FANTASY.
i read somewhere that 60% of women have rape fantasies. obviously if these women were ever raped for real they wouldn't enjoy it. its a FANTASY. they're flicking their nub to an IDEA. the brain is the most powerful sex toy there is.
jerkin off to DRAWINGS of little kids doesn't even equal jerkin off to PHOTOS of kids. i could totally see someone being grossed out/disturbed by the real thing if thats their fantasy. too much reality as they say.

    just another thought to ponder.

And yes this Video has shown up in predator collections..

Now i not saying the Manga or Hentai Anime make the go out and rape but it can and in some case help feed their minds.. Many of and mangas found in predator hands are some made years ago or art done for them . It like there is an underground in Japan working on this type of art alone but with some leaking out. Sadly more is sold in open markets some is just traded ..
look at it this way how do you feel after watch a X rated movie or looking at erotic book? You have a mind that isn't damage as theses predators are and you won't go out and kill or rape some but these people will once they have seen enough to feel into their need to do more than read a manga
No one is saying that a normal person will go out rape a child because the look at hentai. I would say from what I seen the % is at 30 to 45% of those reading Manga that has a child in it being use for sex do it knowingly and small % does it to feed a need the fear acting on..many came across the art work or book they claim by accident and didn't know of Mangas but saw a frame that grabbed them and they search for the whole book . some have big collection from the 70's and 90's (yes this stuff goes that far back)some have new stuff done by unknown artist the paid to draw the art work.

As for Hentai Anime there is market and it is being sold.. and i don't see it going away and with computers that can crank out more anime for the sick mined there will be more underground hentai that will be made to order..
It sad that a media i love so much has this part being exploited but yes it just shows evil and sick minds will try to use some thing good to take pleasure from. This is a sticky issue as to what do we do as artist we can see that images that are adult are good but where do we draw the line ?
I seen some art lately that scared me it was very real and detailed it was not manga or from Japan but more from Ukraine and had stories of impalement and snuff drawings with bondage and SM . the names in the translation match names of women and young girls missing now for years and it was thought this could be what happen but the origins of the books and art work is well hidden and sadly has drop off line.. copies of panels are in the hands of law enforcement to see if any of drawing match photos of the missing girls.. if so some went in very detailed and great planing to make these adult comix that are for very sick minds.
The court hands are tied by laws that are going to effect base of the art work found in the hands of the one committing the crimes .. if there was no connection they would not feel banning any of this art work would be needed. I will do my best to defend Anime and Manga work but I draw the line at works that are for sick minded people .. it bad enough that we have young people in chat room that lied to get into adult chat room and now set them self up to get attack or getting some else attacked. If seen what i seen you back the judge on this but the guy if not found to be a child predator should not have had to go to jail..Maybe a fine fore having banned imaginary but jail time was a bit over the top..

Uh, most of the stuff you posted is evidence that drawings will NOT lead to actual crime, so I am not at all clear on how you concluded from that that they should be banned.

A Japanese non-profit organization called CASPAR has claimed that lolicon and other anime magazines and games do encourage sex crimes.
Yes, so they CLAIM, but they give no real evidence.

On March 11, 2008, UNICEF Japan issued a statement calling for further tightening of child pornography laws in Japan, including the ban of sexual depictions of minors in manga, Anime and computer games.[46] Such a ban, however, is not being considered by Japan's officials for the time being.[47]"[/I] This is from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolicon
And good for Japan's officials, because UNICEF has had a long history of proposing all manner of utterly insane and impractical laws.

Over the last 20 year Mangas have shown up in the collection those arrested for crime against children
Yes, and water has quite consistently shown up in the taps in their bathrooms too. I guess this means we should ban water.

I have help track shipment of banned mangas to near every city in the world and some are going to people that have the power to hid and to keep these books and Anime going for years.. Demand has grown heavy and it shows that some thing is going on..
Good luck. The whole thing will simply shift to the web, where you will have now further control of any kind.

Sadly this mean more laws need to be made even if it seem like a crazy law you have to look to the victims and those who have lost they children to a thought crime made real. I had a some friend that had this very lovely young girl . She had great singing voice .. She ran away due to some online telling her she could become a star. the killed her in way that I later saw in a bondage magna that was found in the person who killed her effect. He got away to Bangkok and was never seen again.. I had to ID the body as her mother went mad and killed her self the father got locked up for a few week to keep him from going hunting for her murder.
A very sad story, but quite irrelevant to the issue.

This why i went into profiling these type of crimes and to stop the death of any one child.
If you want to prevent the death of children, your prime focus should be their parents, because the vast majority of kids that get abused or murdered are abused or murdered by their own parents. Second on your list of enemies should be the automobile, which is the world's number one cause of premature death.

As causes of childhood death go, naughty manga ranks way below such terrors as bee stings and domestic dogs. You are waging a campaign against it not because it is a serious danger, but because you are a prude.

I in no way wanting censorship
Of course you want censorship. That is what banning books IS.

... but What can you do to stop those so young from be harmed ?
See above. Get them off the roads. Cars are vastly more dangerous than any pedophile.

BTW I do not get paid for my profiling work it some thing I do for free..
And I'm sure your clients get what they paid for... ;-)

In any event, the supposed link between manga porn and child abuse is quite irrelevant, even if it is real. We cannot ban anything and everything that might possibly under some circumstances lead to some nut committing a crime. Probably the number one cause of almost all crime is alcohol. Should we ban that too? A very significant cause of death in toddlers is drowning, usually in their own family's swimming pools. Should we ban swimming pools? How about banning pet dogs, considering the number of kids that get killed or maimed by dogs every year? And then of course there are the thousands of kids that die from infections, which they get from other people. I guess we should ban breathing as well?

How blurry the line is between the nanny state and the police state...

It's before my time. I saw the more recent version, with Jeremy Irons. He didn't come across as particularly creepy either. Anyway, by the definition used by psychologists, Humbert Humbert isn't a pedophile, and in fact not even particularly abnormal, at least not by the standards humans have been living by for almost all of history.

Manga Translator Convicted – “Loli Manga is Child Abuse”

A manga translator has been convicted of possessing child pornography after police apparently uncovered his stash of loli manga.

The man had acquired 51 pictures deemed offensive by Swedish police (although apparently there were only in the region of 30 pictures, with police counting backup images twice), in order to “stay up to date with the latest developments in the Japanese comic genre” – an excuse which was probably connected to one of the two allowable defences for having the images.

Swedish law considers drawings involving underage participants in sexual situations to constitute child pornography, with police allowing an exception for people drawing their own pictures, as long as they do not show them to anyone.

This leads to the bizarre reasoning that showing an offending drawing to someone constitutes “a criminal case of child abuse” against a fictional child or children in general, whilst those keeping their pictures to themselves have not committed any fictional child rape at all.

Textual accounts of underage sexual activity, such as Nabokov’s literary classic Lolita, are “not yet” covered by the law – although, based on their logic, reading this book constitutes a criminal act of child abuse.

Another allowable defence is that the drawings were being used for “research” – this appears to have been used in this case, although it seems to have failed dismally.

His purpose for having the images aside, he was found guilty but received only a fine and probation. An appeal is planned.

A Swedish source contacting Sankaku Complex describes the man as a well-known manga translator in Sweden, and apparently by his own admission the man was engaged in a battle with his ex-partner for custody of his infant daughter after the mother moved away, taking the child with her – he claims he was falsely accused of child abuse by the mother so she could secure full custody.

Police investigating could find no evidence of abuse and the charges were dismissed, but a subsequent accusation persuaded police to search his residence, where they found his manga collection – including images of such characters as Asuka, which prosecutors considered to look too young.

No evidence of child abuse was ever found, but police decided to charge him with possession of child pornography on the basis of the manga they found.

As he points out “if you are going to draw any naked cartoon characters, be sure they have big breasts or your drawing might be illegal!”

Unsurprisingly, the trial sparked the usual debate with regards to freedom of speech, with some voices of reason amongst the usual rabble-rousing histrionics – his lawyer for one:

“It goes against all common sense. These are just drawings; no children have been harmed.”

Even a tabloid newspaper is sympathetic:

“However unpleasant and nasty a work of fiction might be, and whatever one thinks about Japanese porn involving cartoon children, there is actually no victim here. The children in the… man’s manga comics were not molested since they were characters in a comic.”

It seems the rights of fictional children may soon trump the rights of real artists and writers, with even reading a book or looking at a drawing now considered an act of “child abuse.”
As other mentions, people can be attracted to cartoons while put off by realism or vise versa. What do you prefer?
