Are there any books/videos/websites/etc that explain how to design a character to invoke certain emotions/responses.
For example, I've heard that to help make a character cuter, their eyes should be a tad larger than normal. To make the character more sneaky, make their eyes smaller, etc. These are the kinds of tips/tricks I'm looking for.
Might I recommend a book by Preston Blair?
"In a book to be treasured by cartoonists and animation and film buffs alike, a master of the craft demonstrates the fundamentals of drawing for the screen, offering tips on two- and four-legged figure construction, body and facial movements, and realistic dialogue, and illustrating concepts such as speed, impact, weight, and recoil. Color photos and line drawings. "
I have a much older copy; one of those large Walter Foster books. Buy it (or get it at your local library). Its well worth your time.
Cool, thanks! I'll check it out.
