Malakuko: I say no guts, but how about a giant clock rammed in there instead? Could be interesting. Like how its going so far though!

Finished the thumbnails for now and i'm really quite pleased with them. I have chosen number 4 to try to develop further however after an hour i'm just not feeling very happy with it all and its not going how i want it to.

I think i'll just scrap it and try again tommorow.

This time I have to finish on time. I follow this thread every week and I started so many times but finished only one character design. Hopefully life won't get in the way this week. This is what I have so far, It's kind of cliché but here it goes. I want him to look very regal, not scary but not easily approachable either. His face shows the wisdom he has accumulated over time. Any comments or suggestions are more than welcome.

idoru - I like the clockwork idea, the way you've drawn him almost looks like he's one of those crudely motorized characters that appear out of the clocks when it chimes. Would be good to see him in a pose!

Zeitwolf - Some great thinking, seems like most of us jumped in without giving much thought to symbolism. Interested to see what you can come up with.

basti0n - Draw it on paper!!

madhatter106 - Thanks, glad it was noticed

    staticpen - go go go!!

ChrisProof - Some interesting design idea, but I think before you get too carried away with those you should correct his proportions, he's very short at the moment. If you don't already, it's always better to draw in the rough figure without clothes (especially with long cloaks) to get your basic proportions down 1st.

Malakuko - I think without guts is a bit too reaperish (<new word!). Maybe like glaudarien said add a clock, or maybe a pendulum or something if you want to be a bit more subtle.

glaudarien - I really liked you thumbnail process, really clear, and well presented (not that presentation matters but still).
I think having the bar of that window protruding vertically from behind his head is hurting your image atm, I'm not sure what you could do to replace it, perhaps just rotate the spokes so there's some negative space surrounding his head?

nAniA - He's got an oriental emperor vibe to him atm so regal....check!
I like the hour glass being incorporated into his scythe to.
I would be careful about getting too caught up in detail early on those, you've begun rendering the face before you have any other colour or values on the image. I'd suggest blocking the rest of the image in before rendering anymore!

A little more work, I shouldn't have posted the first wip really, still so much left to put it. I've added a few things and changed little bits and bobs. I toyed between putting a skull or a fetus in the area above his head, but in the end the skull worked better. I need to start adding in some more costume details, although I'm slightly worried I've made it too much of an illustration and too many more details may ruin it. Any ideas???

Pixeltuner - That is badass! Love all the clockwork/armour elements, and I am rather jealous of his hat. Where might I procure one of those?

Haha thx, I think the hat's on sale now at the 'Eternity Shoppe', at the second turn after the flipside?
