I went to school for game design. Graduated a year ago with no clue what to do with my degree.
I did pretty good in school and was lead on quite a few projects. The problem im having is that I am now a "jack of all trades" guy and not a super specialized artist.
To remedy this I have been hitting the graphite pretty hard and really working on my art. I have seen some improvements but have a long ways to go. Anyway, I feel as this is counter productive to getting into the game industry as quickly as possible. Concept artist jobs are not as plentiful as say, environment artists/modelers.
A wise man once said on CA forums... "1 concept artist can keep an army of people at work for a month"
So do I start double timing it and hitting 3ds max making crates and barrels?
****SIDE NOTE***** As life has it I am living in the middle of nowhere for now (literally 2 hours from any type of retail store). So I have NOTHING else to do but work on art!!!
