The way I look at this is that it can be any thing that is cool and when you pull it out of a bag/pocket everyone starts asking you about it, thereby starting a conversation, or it literally will start a conversations with/for you either verbally or by giving a topic.

I thought it would be something airborne that roamed city streets and did...iunno... crazy things. Random things. Something that makes people go WOW! and then talk about it. Problem is, the idea is so abstract that I'm having trouble coming up with one single design that would be interesting to people and still not become obtrusive/obnoxious. Say you put a siren on the design... some might be irritated by it instead of amused and discuss it. Then again, it would encourage 'conversation' about having said devices banned .gif)
The other thought I had was something that you could press a button for and it asks a question or whatnot, but that would mean talking /to/ the thing. *shrug*

conversion starter
So I misread the header and thought we were designing a conversion starter, as in an experimental matter conversion starter. Anyways, that got my imagination running and I have some designs for one, can I post it here, or should I put it up somewhere else? Again I thought we were doing a conversion starter, not a conversation starter.

You can post whatever you want and maybe you'll get some crits (...and I want to see!!!!!
), however I won't let it in the poll.

Wow, what's going on here? Deadline is tomorrow and not a single entry yet!

I'd say post the conversion starter because I promise you if I ever saw one, I'd ask questions, thus starting a conversation. Go for it!

Alright I'll bite.
The idea is it floats around and projects random images across the surface. goes about as fast as a balloon and is about as friendly and inquisitive as a dog or a bird. They are deliberately programmed with short attention spans so they keep moving around. They also have programmed in them 'interaction' sequences, where if they encounter others of their kind they flash or make faux communication.
They come in two sizes. The bigger ones make more complex images and have greater attention spans. Being stalked by "the Balloons" is an uncommon occurrence, but they are about as harmless as mice. The only thing they could do to hurt someone is fall on top of them, since they don't move very fast.
Should I go post this in the finished thread or will Pixie move it?

Final images should be posted in the finals thread.
This round has ended.
