    Logo for a friend

Here's something I did a while back, one of those "friend" deals.
He wanted a logo to double as a watermark for a photography business.
He also wanted it to have a watercolor look (which can't work as a watermark, but I tried one anyway just because I hadn't done it before).
Anyway, here's some of the progression. I'd love to hear what you guys think, good or bad.

I like the bottom two best. But of course the client went with one I don't like. The palm trees could be better, but they work. The type relies on the font to be interesting. I see what theme you're going for and you've almost got it. I'll post some images that might inspire you.

Raoul Duke, thanks so much for taking the time to reply!
This was something I did for a friend (for free) a little over a year ago.
I didn't like the concept as it's so overused and cliche', but he insisted that's what he wanted.
The trees shown here were just sketchy placeholders, and were cleaned up a lot for the final version. Same overall look and shape, though (generic/simplistic).
What didn't you like about the trees?
I totally agree about the font, but that's the one he liked.
Had it been a paying gig, I definitely would have created something from scratch.
I think I had the most fun doing the surfboard shaped versions, but that idea got shot down pretty hard.
