Awesome start to a sketchbook. Really liking the character designs your coming up with. That last one has a Miyazaki feel to it. Would love to see some of em in full color

    Will be watching.

Some color thumbnails for a city idea including a home atrium. Having a hard time nailing down the design for the atrium though. I started a painting by using a picture of a room as a base and it's going better than the thumbnails. I'm just using it to figure out a layout of hallways and doors so it looks like a domestic room as opposed to a hotel lobby.

Did some studies in preparation for a design I'm working on for a friend where a human body is warped to be dog like. So I needed to get a feel for dog anatomy and gesture as well as practicing unusual human poses. (yoga photos for those curious).

So this is a study trying to figure out how the anatomy of a man could be "surgically" manipulated into a dog-like form. This is a golem so it would mostly move through magical forces, but I wanted something that looked like a mangled body. I guess the bones and muscles could be rearranged through magic to match dog anatomy, but then it would be a dog body not a distorted human body. To make it work (and be more gruesome) I'm imagining that the witches that made this kidnapped a child and raised it to be this. Of course some parts have to be done after the subjects death.

Clavical is broken away from the manubrium to allow the scapula to be pulled forward and metal inserts are applied to stabilize things (of course some muscle tissue needs to be stretched). Clavical is not removed because of muscle connection. In the case of the pectoral it is peeled open along with clavical.

Some bones are broken throughout the subjects growth and reset to curve and shorten them (likewise muscles are trained).

Shizzles - love your surgical dog designs and love love love those thumbnail environment sketches. though it would be lovely to see more of your finished works like the first few ones, but I may be too early to judge anyway. Keep the good job!

    another dog sketch

I decided that it was only necessary to move the scapula rather than break any bones. Animated, it would move slightly more awkwardly adding to the horror. Really, once the scapula is moved then the length between the arms and legs evens out to form a four legged creature. I finally found a way to make the head piece work. Based on the concept of the golem's construction for the project, I'm having it close by using artificial muscles made of wet clay.

    Quick Paintings

    These are some practice paintings.

The river and ocean are from my own photographs.
The factory one is just one from somewhere else so I don't any claim any copyright to it. It's just for practice. Don't know where I got it from or who photographed it so I can't give credit here.

That's some pretty good work with your new brushes, they're great practices.

Which is a good thing at this stage, I notice on the whole, you can whip up some great ideas and your sketches get the idea across really well, but the rendering (mostly of volume/form) once you start getting some paint on there can detract from the great sketch a little bit.

Consider doing some imaginative environments using what you learned from these - and then, using what you learned from them all, to perhaps use these brushes on some characters at higher rendering stages.

    Keep it up man!

These are mostly some environments that I'm working on for a collaborative project. I was having a hard time because I was too worried about the detail from the get go and the accuracy of the boats when I should have been worried more about shape in a composition so I'm redoing it. I wasted enough time trying to force the original interpretation.
