Yes! This is one rocking sketchbook. Love your pencils man.

I suppose no matter what I'm drawing, there will always be some sort of question in my mind about it. A work of art (even cartoon art) is never really finished; it is abandoned.

You have some really good life paintings. How long do you take on the ones on the first pages?

Nice stuff! I like your sketches. Perhaps with the armour you could try some harder edges on the reflections (maybe a harder edge brush? try a square brush maybe).

    Keep it up!

    DStraX-Thanks

    Mitze-Thanks to you!

    JoaoFonseca-Thank ye!

    niruf-I thanketh you!

lolbbq-You're right. Stiffness is always a problem of mine. I should probably do more life drawing. Thanks for looking!

    OmertA-Thank you Jamie!

A big thanks to everyone who checked out my sketchbook in the past month. I was doing some soul-searching/personal stuff/etc that got in the way of updates. Anyhow, I've been doing massive amounts of sketching and less painting, so these are all I have to show study wise (too lazy to scan my pages of sketches, you arent missing much)

ArtDisaster-Thank you man! You are too kind No, I don't color pick except from within the painting. That would ruin the point of the study! I tend to make my colors darker than the original, sadly.

Random heads, a portrait of my dad for an ad, and a study. More to come soon-

    dhilipsomesh-Thank you

Mitze-Cool, just goes to show we all get our refs from pretty much the same places would love to see your take on it

Justyna-Thank you, that's very nice of you

    Cameli-Thanks

Did a character of a chick with a gun. It's in need of crits so I'd appreciate some constructive criticism I know the pose is stiff and the rendering is off in parts...let me know what you think

There are few things with the latest character. But the two major:

I'm going to make some assumptions but hopefully you get what i mean.
I think its much too gray. I think it needs a punch in contrast. The jeans? are the same value as the leather bullet strap? as well as the boots. Mix it up with the local value of different objects on a character. Its the large shapes that make the character specific from a distance. Showing how light affects the different materials would go a long way in helping with that

The pose is the other. It kinda confuses me. I really like subtle poses with weight shifts that somehow add to the background story or overall appeal of the character. I see her as kind of "badass" or "hardass", she has a shotgun, smoking, a bullet belt, and smug t-shirt. But the pose just doesn't hold that up. The hand holding the cigarette is too danty for me, maybe you were going for sex appeal?

The legs are also in what I see as kind of a danty pose, besides feeling a little off-balance. I think a shotgun over your shoulder would cause you lean back a little more, it would look more natural to have the weight on the back leg.

Got a little longer than I wanted lol. Basically just talking to myself about what I try to think about when I'm trying to work out a character. Hope I got at least a tiny bit of what I was tryin to say across?

Aveh-Thank you for the honest critique! I see what you mean about the values and especially about the pose. I should have just redrawn the initial sketch, but I just kept pushing forward on a bad foundation. I really appreciate it man

    Goldenstripe-Thank you!

A couple of quick environment studies and then one from my head.
