    Question Nonobot's Slowpoke-book

I'm a 19 (20 nowpast Christmas) year old Game Art Design student, studying at Demontfort University .
I have 3 years to improve before trying to branch into the Game industry.
This sketchbook is to show my progress.

(edit: wanted a pig for my sketchbook icon. hur '-' )

Hi. It's cool you started sketchbook here. About the panda, it looks like something radioactive is happening here. Maybe a little saturation would settle this out. But, of course if that's what you want it to look like, then great!
Other than that, nice start. Will check later for more. Keep it going!

Ivan: Haha! Yeah I see what you mean, Ive been trying to draw so the colours really bounce out; as I often draw too dull, Im trying to tackle that. I guess I need to try to balance it instead of do the opposite. Cheers!

Some sketches from a couple weeks ago now. I should really go back and do some more.
Also, Ive learned not to think " Ill change the resolution to 75 to save time scanning ". Nothing good comes from cutting corners!

gordebak: Cheers! I should do some more some time.

A black and white self portrait, bombarded with problems with this.
One huge problem being, the lighting in my room is terrible and there is a lot of glare on my screen. This went through many stages of god awfulness, fun though.

(edit) Added some warm up sketches before I did this on the same day. ;D

I've got to agree with NickyBeats. All of the sketches are great, and the last one in the first post is my favorite. Some of the life drawings come close, though!

I wish I had some criticism to offer, but I just don't see mistakes. Sketchiness, but not mistakes. Maybe practice natural environments more so that backgrounds like your bamboo forest are at the same level as your still lifes? The bamboo forest is probably the weakest thing in your sketchbook; the lines in the background don't create the same solidity and texture that your other sketchy stuff does.

Anyways, I'm off to check out your blog. Keep it up!

Catukas: Aw thanks, you're not pathetic because you're not giving up drawing like others do. Cheers, those were caricatures of friends at collage I wanted to do the whole class but I was easily distracted.
NickyBeats Cheers man! Daily sketch group is an awesome thread!
furiana Yeah you're right about the bamboo, I was trying to force focus on the character, but I get your point, they need to be more believable.

Some sketches from Starbucks now; over all, a pretty bad day, not a lot of subjects.Tried to keep it cleaner but most people were to fidgety to draw cleanly(such as the "lol" part"), must have been the coffee. Also little bit of cropping from my scanner, but not too much.

Some crap from my doodle book.
Not much today, just sort of sat in my garden trying to draw one of my cats for a while.
Also a drawing of "Stimpy", not really though, making fun of my friend by calling her Stimpy, you know. This was like, youd notice something every time you go to save, I hate that.

Been doing studies recently, dont really like posting copies of others work or photos.
So I decided to do a bit of digital painting, no referances used, you can tell, no?
Playing with textures and listening to Silent Hill OSTS!
Need to try harder to work out the kinks of my painting! Just need to figure out howw.

Been doing a lot on paper, I need a scanner that is connected to this pc. Also I dont really like uploading my studies of other artists, seems sleazy.

Anyway, did a speedy for DSG, but frankly, Im not going to let it through my quality control. So its not going up there. But I learned a bit from its still something.
Keep light sources simple, simple is good. Keep the scene simple. Dont forget to eat. That last ones important.

Got a brand new scanner today! Now I need to make some stuff to scan.
Ive found my greatest week point, painting with acrylics. Its going to take me forever to get to intermediate with paints, god damn.

For warm ups, i usualy do some drawings of bodys and speedy faces from referance, usualy from 1000face.co.uk, heres one of the not so bad pages.
Also I scanned up and drunkenly painted the last image, i still have a hang over.
I cant drink and draw too well, motivation just dies.

Went to starbucks again to do some sketching, been putting it off(alcohol).
I think next time Ill do some different drawings, thinking pencil and pen are getting a bit same-y.
    Also started on a Chow!

    God damn attachment manager!
Drew this yesterday at London Comic and Movie convention. I realized how off all the anatomy was, it was a real eye opener man. Need to get my act together! But yeah, if anything, i should make a web comic about a fat retard and a cam wh*** loser... As they try to stop Silly Bandz from destroying society with their gang culture wayssss. (inside joke really, but you can imagine Im sure.)

And a little thing im doing for a friend for fun.

    Oh and my Chow

thought I'd speedily draw a nun and try and photoshop it, dont think it went down well. Carrots because i think i made her look like a drugged up horse.
Also I think the hands are too small. ARUATEEXTEXTTEXT

    DOODLE TIMEEE
These are the only doodles Ive saved, this weeks been mostly working in my sketchbook. No point scanning up pagged crawling with inter-woven torsos and arms.
Im beginning to think I should get a mentor or something.

    Some photo studies!
I was a off in most areas, but not by too farrr. Think Ill do some more later.

Pft, cba to finish, but I went on to draw something cooler.

And a peek at my next doodle, going to be called " Me fans are stupid pigs "

need to fix up that waist, I may switch to a realistic character, to practice on realism, but the anime will prove my point better.

This isnt a swing at any particular website. OH NO, FOR SHAME UPON THE THOUGHT!
