    Ha-HA- Score!

Thanks guys. Thanks a lot Janeschi. You did me a solid, I wish I could apply more than one "thanks" to a post .

One of the things I'm happiest with is this doesn't necessarily contribute to ONLY this painting. I feel that when I go for dark and indoors that this is my usual problem and now I've got some serious stuff to think about and seeing an example such as this does far more than any words.

    Can we get a sticky?

I actually didn't want to waste your precious time with this, but I just can't pass up the opportunity to get some crits by future masters...

This was done for CHOW 200 and I couldn't get rid of some of the linework because of deadline issues. And there is something wrong about the proportions...

You two are so cool for doing this! This is already a super brilliant thread. I got a lot from just seeing your paintovers/feedback to the other posters here.

It seems the pictures are flooding in now, but I'll go ahead and post a WIP of my own. It's been sitting in the sketch folder for a good while because something about the composition is bothering me. The colouring was pretty quick. Oh, and the troll apparently has no legs lulz.

Spikings, Quigleyer: no problem! We are glad if we can help

One more before I go to bed:
BlackDelphin: Wow, pink wall is pink! *_* The fact itself, that the wall is pink is a huge eyecandy, it dont has to be too saturated in the same time to get its attention I also added some shadows, your body looked a bit flat without. The spotlight light is just a suggestion I personally liked for this artwork. it dont has to be that way but I thought it would looks a bit more interesting.

Reedux: Hmm I think the heaven should look a bit more interesting since there is a lot of space filled with it. Maybe put some more values in it?

night2: I dont really know what to overpaint. I guess the tomato is from ref or life anyway? Maybe you shouldnt throw so many textures in it. It looks like every picture element was painted seperated (like the table, the tomato or the wall in the background). I would advice you to get rid of textures and try to paint everything by your own. Textures are just cheap tricks and wont help you to understand painting in general (I'm using them way too much too). And hey, why dont you show something newer than 2 years old stuff? So an overpaint would make more sense, i'm sure you can do that a lot better now

    aLDoDarK:
Hi! I dont want to write much about it since its anime-style (which has its own rules anyway, lulz) and kind of dreamy But most important: Please dont cut her with the imageborder that way. She's the main focus and cutting the picture will other people assume that you cant draw the other hand
I filled the ground with light because I wasnt really sure where the light on her comes from... as I said its very dreamy and anime-ish and I wasnt sure what you were trying to achieve, so I hope you dont mind the changes I did o_o

Thank you so much for your help, Jana! Your paintover made a few things 'click' inside my head. You are right about the bright colours I use, I need to tone them down a little and use them sparingly.

I'm learning tons from this thread. Keep it rocking

    Woah! Is this for real?

Wait...lemme bounce around the room for a while!

If you can, I'd like to have the illustration I'm currently working on overpainted please

    EDIT:

I was able to bring this painting to a more finished state in the time I posted the previous image. It would be great if you could tackle the new image

I'm trying to get a handle on painting (digital/PhotoShop). Self-taught old guy (35) who is no student.

Anyway I've written a novel (Epic Fantasy - Marlsbeth) due to be released if I can find a way to get it edited professionally. This is my main character. He is a cross between Aragorn and Sebastian Bach looks wise. Somewhat pretty but not overly, grungy worn outfit with leathers and good textures. I've invested a lot of time in this pic and wish to finish it...

This thread was suggested to me and I'd be grateful if you found time!

This is going to be a lot of work for you guys. Perhaps limit the amount of pictures?

Besides that though this is a truly awesome idea and very educational both for yourselves and everybody that follows this thread.
