syrella Thanks, yes I'm familiar with that site, it's great. And that video is really inspiring
rem92 Cool, so you recognize Tony in him? I have struggled with him so much, but perhaps it's passable?
the2dmaster11 I feel you bro. I start off with a sketch and then grayscale shading before adding color and set it to overlay and merge down, then I add darker and lighter values(brown to pink) to make it more interesting and make it look more like skin shading.
    SaiVix Thanks!

You're off with a good start, that's good. Have you tried any quick gesture studies too? I find these the most empowering when it comes to figure drawing for your works.

Yes! Poses and gesture drawing is what I have always done, not much from real life, but still. And I did that for many years, still do. It's what comes first in all my ideas. It's just the last 2-3 years I really began messing with color and how to paint.

Oh, if the pose is familiar, I actually stole it from the talented artists behind
    Salesman Pete!

Prior to this I did some quick sketches and started sculpting away, but I couldn't really get him out as I envisioned him in my mind so I went online to find inspiration and then this illustration hit me full on! All I saw was a silhouette of urkel starting to get the rythm and breaking out in some famous moves so I had to put him down and although I did a paint from scratch mind the silhouette, I assume this is a very close call.

I'm thinking of dropping them a mail and asking for permission to put it up, but as long as I'm open about it I guess it's ok? It's just going to act as a concept for my sculpt though the proportions are the main key here and I just thoght I should share as I just thought it'd be funny.

I was wondering how you were improving so quick, and then realised that the first post was 2010 haha.

Great job so far. You have definitely gotten better in that time. Your shading is a lot nicer and your character designs are coming along nicely.
