Teen Challenge 100 Ideas, plots and evil plans

    Watsup Everybody!

Teen Challenge 100 is fast approaching and we need to get some ideas together for what to do.

All ideas are good, try to think of something unique but it doesn't have to be because we can always work from something which seems simple and turn it around.

PLEASE THROW IN ANY IDEAS YOU HAVE, I WILL POST UP A POLL TO VOTE BUT I'D LIKE MORE OPTIONS AND DIFFERENT CHOICES FIRST. SOME BRAINSTORMING WOULD BE GOOD!

    Here's a couple of ideas I had :

    1) We could go with what happened with the last TC 50 and do a last teen standing. This is basically a knockout with different topics for each round, it would last about 3/4 weeks depending on the number of entries etc

    2) Team Teen Challenge. A lot like Team CHOW, you get into teams of 2-4, a topic is decided, you create a number of illustrations based on topic then there's a voting session

That's pretty much all I have for now, another idea though is that if we do something where people are getting knocked out there can be a side activity of a sketchswap going on, thanks to fawn for mentioning this.

Just go ahead and throw in all your ideas

P.s I will beat up everyone who looks inside this thread but doesn't comment.

Ooooooo.... Now I'm EXCITED!!!!!!!!!! #100 here we come!

I like the the team teen challenge idea! I think it would help get more people involved and also help to "meet" new people. I find it a bit boring to see the same people week in and week out. Not that the good folks who dedicate themselves here aren't top notch people , but it's nice to see some new faces.

I'm not so fond of the last teen standing idea. I dunno, multi-week things just seem drag on for me. Also, how would we know who had won for the next round if we were to start a new topic each week? Just some little thoughts.

    Let me clarify somethings.

Both Team Teen Challenge and Last teen standing would have to last at least 2-4 weeks for people to be able to get everything ready, set up etc.

The way Last teen standing works it that you say you want to enter. You get a first topic, a deadline of 1 week and you create a piece. Every 3/4 people are in a group together and your group gets voted for the best piece, the best 2/3 continue on to the next round. Then the numbers will be down by however numbers we decide to knock out each round. After the voting is done, a new theme is given and so is a new group who you're against. The groups will of course be fair. All it is, is that you're voted against the people in your group.

Thanks for your input though and I agree with what you said about people getting to know each other better.

Which ever one we choose I'll see if I can get us some download prizes

Alright! Thanks for that. So, just to make sure I'm getting this: an example...

    Scenario #1

    There are people A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I

    Round 1:
    Team 1: A, B, C
    Team 2: D, E, F
    Team 3: G, H, I <- losing team

    Round 2:
    Team 1: D, F, C <- losing team
    Team 2: A, H, B <- grand winner?

    Or is it Scenario #2:

    Team 1, Team 2, Team 3, Team 4, Team 5, Team 6

    Round 1:
Team 1 vs Team 4 vs Team 2
Team 3 vs Team 5 vs Team 6

Winners: Team 2 and Team 4, Team 3 and Team 6

    Round 2:
    Team 2 vs Team 6
    Team 3 vs Team 4

Winners: Team 2 and Team 4

    Round 3:
    Team 2 vs. Team 4

I was just guessing that we wouldn't have more than three or four teams (9-16 people) just because of the low number of regular participants. On a good normal round there's 5 or 6 people participating, so 16 people would be amazing. I really do like the idea of meeting new people though, even if the numbers don't turn out to be enough for this.

Another idea is to have teams of people working on one project, and each member is assigned an area (enviro, character, creature etc.) and comes up with a common theme or story for all their group's work. The members are then put in separate polls with the members of other groups that are working in the same area. The team with the highest combined points moves on.

    Eg.

    Team 1
    A works on character
    B works on enviro
    C works on creature

    Team 2
    D works on character
    E works on enviro
    F works on creature

    A- 2 votes, B- 7 votes, C- 0 = 9 points
    D - 3 votes, E- 0 votes, F- 15 votes = 18 points

Team 2 wins and goes on to compete with the other 3 top teams (for example)

This is a bit like how school scores are gathered in badmintion, so I thought it could work here. I guess if a group wanted, you could have 2 people in characters, and 1 in enviros, or something but you'd be competing against your own team member too.

I like the Teen Team thingie better I think, but I'm just popping this out there.

No team stuff, I think. My ideas: 1. I actually participate. 2: There could be prizes of some kind.

    ideas...... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

    team idea is cool

working with others can be a challenge. Something to learn i guess.

knockout sounds cool but might discourage people from competing if theres a wide gauge of skill levels.

    please dont hurt me nebo!!!

It think you should just make it a one time thing with an interesting subject like... Paint the entire evolution of an alien race or maybe an entire eco system like in CoW,

Guys, there will be NO KNOCK OUTS IN THE TEAM CHALLENGE, knock outs would only be in the single participant challenge.

Team challenge would work like this:
    1) Pick your teams
    2) Get brief
    3) Each member works on what they want to do
    4) Post all your finished work during deadline
    5) The teams work is put together and everyone votes for the team they like the best

In the last teen standing/thunderdome it would work like this
    1) You give your name in saying you'll particapate
    2) I make a list of GROUPS, YOU WILL NOT WORK IN TEAMS WITH THESE GROUPS, you will be COMPETING AGAINST the people in your group. I will make the groups fair and team up people with the same skill levels together.

It would go something like this
    Person : a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i,

    group 1 : a, b, c
    group 2 : d, e, f
    group 3 : g, h, i

After voting let's say b, f, and i are knocked out

    Next it would be
    group 1 : a, c, d
    group 2 : e, g, h

and 2 people get knocked out, let's say d, h

    Group 1 : a, c
    group 2 : e, g

This would be final knock out, with the top 3 winners getting prizes

This is just an example, the groups won't follow that order or anythings, just trying to make sense of it.

Good on you guys for not wanting to get beat up ;P
And it's a kind of shame that people only want to do it for the prizes, I mean it would suck a bit if it was won by someone who never ever participates and only particulates this once to get the prizes and then never takes part again :/. But hey, it could mean more regulars so all is cool, whatever motivates people is good

i like the first idea, but i dont mind that much. if the topic is good i am in!
although a poll could help decide if enough people are interested that way what we do will be all nice and democratic like, or if that is too much hastle just count the for and against in the thread
... are we posting topic ideas inb this thread? i know it isnt for a while, but it might be nice to get a bit of a buzz generated.

I prefer the Last Teen Standing concept better. I don't think that we're numerous enough to make the team TC worthwhile...

considering the fact that I don't really work all that well with other people, I'd be happy to participating in the last teen standing type thing... it sounds rather fun...

We're teenagers... We're awkward and socially repressed with all of the tehcnalogicall hudywutsus... I don't like the team idea.

The thunderdome sounds cool though. I hope to participate. I only made it to like one round last time.

I say that each round for the thunderdome you have a new topic, something very broad.

Here are my ideas for topics (and I hear-by copyright these titles ):

    Abandoner
    After the Storm
    As Embers Dress the Sky
    Ashes
    As the Sun Sets
    Asylum
    Atmosphere
    Away From Light
    Before the Storm
    Black Salvation
    But a Memory
    Closure
    Cursed Revelations
    Dark One
    Dead but Dreaming
    Deep, Deep
    Disintegration
    Disorder
    Epitaph
    Existence
    Fade Out
    Fog
    Frost
    Grey Dawn
    I
    In Reverie
    Morbid Visions
    Nightless
    Noir
    Nothing
    Phase One
    Pink Moon
    Plaguebearer
    Radiance
    Reality Dream
    Requiem
    Sacred Steel
    Sanctuary
    Shadowplay
    Sheep
    Stormchaser
    The Descent
    The Other
    The Room
    The Summoning
    The Surface
    The Voices
    The Wall of Sleep
    Tyranny
    Waves of Thought
    Within the Realm
    Words
    World of Tears
    Yearning

Heck, then me and you must be two different type of teenagers cause I actually love all things social So maybe don't be so quick to judge and just knock it out because I am sure there's others willing to try it

How the hell did you get all those themes hahah, nice stuff though with that

Diarum: Part of the fun of working in groups that even if you have the lowest skill level, is that you can learn a ton and have a lot of fun! It's not all about winning. Also, I assume that lilnebo is going to ( if we to team) arrange groups so they're even.

Lilnebo: Is there some method of letting all the member under 20 on CA know that this is going to be coming up? A mass pm or some such thing? We might get a couple more folks showing up if they know it's going to happen.

I prefer having an artistic battle to the death. My personal weapon of choice would be a mechanical pencil, using my mighty tablet for a shield.

That post was meant to be a joke, but I think that could be a fun topic idea

hmm this sounds interesting. i havent tried teen challenge yet cuz i havent seen a topic that i was particularly interested in (plus ive been doin mostly creature of the week), but this sounds like it could be fun. personally i wouldnt mind teams or the knockout thing, but i think teams would be a lot better if we can get enough people. if we just did individual things, since there are probably a lot of different skill levels there wouldnt be much of a contest. if the teams were split up evenly enough (we should probably post some of our work) it would be more challenging for the higher skilled people, and the less skilled people could have a chance to stay in and learn a bunch in the process.

i'm all for what lancer said
i think a team TC is a great idea and i think it would give lots of people, including myself, more confidence to enter and learn from others, especially if we had staggered levels of skill in each team.

This teams vs knockouts thing seems to be quite contentious, maybe it would be good if people could learn to works together a bit more , could definitely be a lot of fun. Then again, it's not great if you don't have a reliable internet connection and people on your team are counting on you to deliver something.
Maybe there could be somekind of halfway house, like a topic decided as a team, but individually assesed pieces.
Or maybe the people within each team could vote on the piece, from a member of their team, that they wanted to send through to an individua knockout round?

good idea A-pril, we could possibly just have a couple of grace days after the deadline for members of the groups to all submit the work. as long as people didnt just use it to do more stuff on their work.
i think we should go for a team teen challange, it cant hurt, and hey you might just enjoy it.
