    Teen Challenge 91 :: WarLord

    Teen Challenge 91 :: WarLord

    Round 91 :: Warlord

    Topic
    Warlord, just be creative as always. Push yourself and try something new
    Topic chosen by last round's winner Zelda_geek

    P.S THE WINNER OF THIS TEEN CHALLENGE WILL PICK THE TOPIC FOR THE NEXT TEEN CHALLENGE AND SO ON UNTIL TC 100

    Enjoy everybody
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Trying hard to think of stuff that everyone will enjoy and I am thinking teen challenge should be a bit different from all the other challenges. Everything else is pretty specific so I want to keep TC as something a bit more relaxing and personal. Keeping it open as possible If you guys have any ideas throw them in the suggestions thread ----> Topic Ideas

    Deadline
    Sunday, June the 20th, 2010

    IMPORTANT
    1. Add a border around your image with your name and the topic, like they do with the other of the week challenges.
    2. Please use the attachment manager, it helps preserve the images to forever and beyond.
    3. Mark your final as final.

    Good Luck everyone and Hope you have fun! If you have any ideas for where the teen challenge should go then please either PM me or post it in the suggestions thread.

    Sorry for the delays everyone. This winner choosing the topic thing has been a bit weird but it's all sorted now

    Hunchback gets to choose the topic for the next TC, if I waited until the voting finished that would mean that each TC would be 3 days late so I had the first topic chosen by the winner from round 89, and so on

    skyline: Fuck that's looking really cool. I can't wait to see it done.

    My early scribbles. Mostly at this point playing with values and silhouette. Probably will change a few things (mostly value issues) before I begin rendering it all out. Comments are more than welcome.

    Yeah, I need to check out some actual armour... right now this is some fuzzy idea I have in my head of what it looks like.

    A messy pencil sketch... I was deciding on a more samurai theme or an ancient Chinese one (with flowing robes haha), but yeah ended up with a samurai influenced panda riding warrior of a warlord.
    I'm lost as to what should be in the background/still working out some anatomy kinks.

    hunchback: I like the colors in yours so far. Not gonna comment on anything else yet as it still kind of looks like an early-wip?

    Andrew Sonea: Nice detailed sketch, I would move the hand thats not holding the sword somewhere else, or make it more visible.

    ike ike: Funny concept, I like the top right silhouette the most.

    Skyline:
    Can't wait to see it done either

    Homayun: I think that you rushed your piece a little bit the deadline is Sunday so you could still refine your rendering and think about composition and maybe kill all that white in your background.

    Damn, That's looking awesome. I love the style you have.

    So.. critiques.. on the left hand, the finger to the left is as long as the other ones ( which it isnt suppose to be)
    i'd suggest using reference, and the pose with his arms dosnt look very natural, is he like leaning onto a shelf or something?
    because it looks as bit stiff.

    Hope it helps.

    Warlord

    So yhea. This is my final image. I tried a new technique, starting out with a
    sillhoute as you could see in my WiP. Im pretty happy with it actually.
    There is a border down there although hard to see when i covered it in grass and a texture.

    skyline: unless it's intended, there is some issues with proportions: the head is way too small for a hood that big and for shoulders that large I like the costume design though, looking good!

    whew been an age since i posted, seeing as its my last year as a teen i figure this was the best place to start up again - great topic by the way (hope a modern warlord is alright)

    here's my final, i'll give feedback during the voting.

    Abus Vandurl is a warlord from the near future laying claim to a large area of southern asia through his military power in the region. Rising to power through bold battles and opportunism, his initial bravery has now given way to paranoia due to a fear of loosing power. As a result he now uses shock and awe tactics, wearing a grim mask to instill fear in opponents and attaching various lucky charms to his bomb-proof armour.
