    My concept art stuff

    Hey There!
I decided to start a thread in the concept art category,I'll only post the concepts here, the studies will remain in my sketchbook thread.
So,a bit about myself:I am Daniel Kovacs,15 years old,and I wanna be a concept artist when I grow up!

This is my very first speedpaint(2h total),comments and critique welcome!

    Cheers!

wow great work here! nice to see some other young concept artists (i'm 16) that's impressive work there, and very creative.

for the first piece, I think you could use something in the background, maybe some mountains or a similar cityscape just pushed into the background. you could also use some cloudy atmosphere at the bottom of the waterfalls, and some mist/fog will give the piece a great mood. just use a big soft edge brush on low opacity.

those vehicle concepts are gorgeous. you should look into drawing some of them in 1 or 2 point perspective though, just so we can get a better vision of what they look like.

those body sketches on the bottom are great! i would love to see some full body concepts of them.

look forward to seeing more work from you.

I think that you need to decide on just a few main features (functions or shapes) and let those dictate the design (including the silhouette and overall form), then tone down meaningless filler greeble. Try to make greeble look meaningful if there is any that doesn't. Ideally, every bit of detail should have some functional meaning, although this is very difficult to achieve (but something to strive for.)

Repeating detail often looks better than lots of different detail that can't make up its mind. The eye likes rhythm, flow and a level of predictability. Familiarity is good too. If a shape is pretty complex, it can be hard to understand, but if it's a complex familiar shape, the brain doesn't have to do as much work taking it in.

dude, keep drawing like you do man! you draw with your heart and soul and you will find pieces of yourself on a canvas!!! i started drawing when i was 14 and mega man and the teenage mutant ninja turtles was my inspiration. around sixteen i drew my own characters of who and what i felt i was on the inside. follow the dream you have and you will find that your soul will nourish your drawings! keep up the great work, love your speedpaint!!!
