Yeah! I am Mexican however =) Only half, the better half. I go there every year to visit family and I always come back with colours and music in my head. I simply adore south america, one of my dreams is to live there for a few years and learn some crafts with fibres, ceramics and tortillas.

Do you know Moebius? He is one of the greats inspired by South America. Mike Mignola too. My favourites =))

My thoughts on culture when I was a teen

I want to do a little experiment with art, please give me a reaction !!
Last night I couldnt sleep at all, so I was thinking about how the kids in my highschool loved '50 cent Get rich or die trying'. I was trying to think if it was a positive message in some way. These are my notes on the subject. Excuse my organization, I have no skill in this department

Wow I love that saying " Shoot for the Moon even if you miss you land among the stars".

I have just written it down in big bright colors and I am taping it up next to my desk! Thanks for sharing

Hey, Pamzie! I really like your work. I especially appreciate that you're using traditional, or at least real physical, tools for your art. Not to knock anyone here with Photoshop skills, but I think these days it's tempting for people to skip over the stuff that you're doing and go straight for the digital versions (but there's sometimes something lacking in their work because they haven't bothered to learn some of the fundamentals that you are so proficiently using). So it's really refreshing for me to see someone using actual pastels and watercolours and paper.

    I'm a fan!

I am glad you like the phrase. I felt the same when I first read it loll

Thank you for saying I am proficient with trad mediums =D)) I am trying photoshop for the first time lately but I wont use it instead of watercolor or paint because they look better when they are real, I am going to use it as a pretty much texture less computer program, like a fancy windows 'paint'.

Thanks for your post on my book, Pamzie! Just to clarify, what did you mean by construction? Are you talking about proportions of my subjects and how I build them, or more composition and how I lay out the elements in the picture? I really appreciate your comments!

I want to own the crab drawing from post 48. Are you willing to sell that? I was also pretty impressed by the statue of the guy holding the fountain, that looks like a flippin Heinrich Kley. I got a kick out of hearing that you're half Mexican, so am I. I think it's better than full Mexican because we get most of their powers but none of their weaknesses. I don't much like the effect of that new pastel, way too harsh for my taste, that's just my opinion... I don't know, have to see it in different colors.

Nice experimentation with colours, be careful of wonky eye syndrome on a few of your faces tho.

Thanks Rena =D I appreciate your visit to my thread!
Hey ^_^ Okay, ill watch for weird eyes. I only just recently got the concept of volume and I still need to do some tweaking and improving portraits. I see sooo many problems of volume and structure in all my older drawings. Thanks!
    Velocity Kendall: Yes.

Hi armando!! Thats so funny, we have all the mexican powers and not their weaknesses. That sentence made my day! Ill have to completely agree. I don't know the first thing about selling a drawing =o Ill try to find it, I am moving around and I don't know if its in Quebec or Ottawa. Ill let you know when I do. I love Heinrich Kley =DD and thanks for the honesty!

And now for a post, heres some stuff I've been working on since getting my tablet yesterday. Its my first time with photoshop, and I am going to work on it everyday until I leave for Halifax (I am going to NSCAD next year) I dont have internet everyday, but I will try to post as often as possible

Thank you Velocity Kendall!! I am so happy you went to my blog =D I try to post my favourite work on my blog, here is where I post my 'not so sure' work (because I want to get better) Its funny though, more people see this stuff than they see my blog... anyway, lately my 'not so sure' work and my favourite work are the same.

Here is a little comic I wrote yesterday. I am a little sarcastic, I don't dislike all modern art, just the really ugly stuff.

I had fun making a comic, but I think I need to think more about how to word stuff, and how to incorporate the speech bubbles, I probably should have made the words more bold than the bubble. Probably make the backround look better, annndd spend more time making the composition work better. I didnt make any thumbnails either and this is somrhting I have problems keeping in mind to do. Next time...

    Hey joe

This is a comic I was working on to practice storytelling. I think. Sometimes I just can't tell what I am working on anymore. I just start to get consumed by my lines and forget if I am supposed to be working on... anatomy, or storytelling, or whatever. I always work so fast. I should probably slow down a bit and do some detailed work.

The rest of Hey Joe is on my blog: palomadawkins.blogspot.com
the link is also in my signature i think

    Last post of the day

Hey, I was inspired today to make an illustration of cats. I just wanted it to look like an ancient Chinese print or something, so I added human like faces. Kind of like those creepy med-evil sculptures of children that are actually just small men.

Short comic, The canary with a toupe

I went to the pet store and saw this bird that looked like it was wearing a tiny wig! I thought it was HILARIOUS. I wanted to buy that bird. I like animals with human quirks. If it was up to me, I would have that bird with hair and a cat with thumbs.

This is a short comic, please help me figure out a colour scheme for it... I was thinking yellow brown and blue; like wild canaries, but I dont know... Maybe colourful canaries. Suggestions??
