The Hogarth studies look great! About this picture, you've nailed some of the colors well but overall the study looks a bit flat and partly too desaturated. Here are some pointers:
    - highlights on the jawline and nose lack some saturation
    - hair looks pretty desaturated overall
    - the study misses depth on the darker midtones, like on the nose, on the forehead, under the mouth and under the eyes
    - under the hair there should be a brown cast shadow.
    - the highlight on the shoulder should be brighter
    - the roundness of the eyeballs is there but they miss some deep shadows and the red of the veins.
    - irises are too small
    - mouthline is too straight, it doesn't give the feel of bending around the round set of teeth

I like the attention to detail on the freckles and eyelashes though. Just remember to push the depth (some of the grayscale studies look like they could benefit from this too) but good start and keep doing studies like that.

Wow, you've done so much since I've last been here! At this rate, you'll be improving in no time.
The focus you have on anatomy is good and will really help to push you forward. The chow from post 19 looks great too, it's a difficult perspective/angle for the figure and you've handled it pretty well considering - kudo's for actually doing it too and not shying away and picking an 'easier' composition. (: Although I do agree with kamikazu that he looks a little stiff, perhaps some faster gestural studies a la posemaniacs might help. Also, looking at the way fabric falls across form (something I have a major issue with too x] ) might help, his clothing doesn't look like it hangs the way it should on his body, if you get my drift.
Just keep it coming, keep on pushing!!

    ait guys,

iv never done thumbnails before so felt it was about time, most of these are terrible tbh but i have chosen four of them to expand and see where this lil experiment takes me.

I plan to polish up these thumbnails further, dont know to what level but should be interesting

hay, nice sketchbook. try finding some photos that you wouldnt mind looking at for a very long time and take as much time as you need to copy them exactly. then, try doing the same thing from life. thats what im doing right now and there is a lot to be learned from it. also, stay original, keep doing your own thing.

I like the ChOW piece. It has a nice woodcut feel and good composition. The baby in the womb pic looks great too though the headphones look a bit too crisp to fit the xray feel of the rest of the picture. Maybe soften the edges and add some dark red there? Just a thought. I also second what Gorax said. Keep them coming!

busy busy busy, got 3 massive projects on the go for uni, il post what i can of them up, guna try and do as much 2d work for them too

the first project is mainly 3d based, got to create two rooms and all contents in 3dmax and then get them playable in UDK. The theme is 'The inventors room' with a 'Victorian' theme..

pretty cool, not what id usually do will be a good challenge

The second project is a A3 traditional piece for landscape, interior or vehicle and a character.

again looking forward to this one

and the final project is a whole project with the theme of 'oriental' and 'the temple'

my favourite of the three projects XD

so yea im going to be updating this sketchbook with some of the work from these projects and hopfully find time to do personal stuff too, WAY to much chattin, heres some quick rough project stuff and 25 figure drawings - soon to be 100.

    BOOM

    check it yo

Hey dude. Really liking your environmental studies, the composition is working really well, that's something I need to improve on myself. There's a definite improvement in your figure drawing ability too, you're making good progress. Something good came out of sitting around and drawing naked men all day!

Looks like a creepy place with a very intense mood... I like the thing with the chains attached to it. Just the kind of prop that looks believable though I have no idea what it does. The wooden tables look weirdly thick though and I think all those candles would be in the way of working, maybe they could be placed further towards the wall? The pencil shading on the thumbnails of the soldier/police concept looks painful, no wonder if you weren't enjoying it. If you want to fill the shape with a flat value, the side of the pencil tip, hatching evenly or ink wash or something would've worked. I enjoy looking at the process on planning the concept though and I like the pose that follows a big arc in the thumb you picked. It looks off balance though. Try imagining a center of gravity there. Usually in a balanced pose, the head is about on the same vertical line with the point of support. Apart from that and maybe the arms looking like they're just hanging loose, the finished result and ortho look good. All the effort on planning sure paid off.
