Nice bridgeman studies on the last page Bishop! Your on the right track I'd say concentrate on more paintings from life and try to put more hours into your paintings to push those values more and shapes. I'm guilty of this also of just working on paintings real fast sometimes but I think when your just starting out in those studies really put in those extra hours on some of them to get all the nook and crannies. Spend a extra day or two if you have to.

    Keep painting man!

    Stuff from today.

Hello, thanks for the tips. I tried a little harder to get in and do the details in some of these.

I got my book today, did some Mattesi studies, a photo study and a portrait.

Lakka Hey, thanks for stopping by my sketchbook. You're paintings are great.

Vertical Thanks for dropping by again, I really appreciate it. :]

Here's some portraits from today. I think the value studies are helping, more of those on the way. I didn't really get a lot done today, but it's something.

    Painting from today.

I did more than I usually do today, I went and sketched a mannequin at the college but I haven't skanned the pictures.

    Anyways, a landscape.

    Leg Studies.

I memorized the front muscles in the leg and did a bunch of leg studies, I think I'm going to keep doing this because I feel like I learned alot.

good work keep it up. I'd say in your portraits spend more time getting the proportions right and the elements in the right spot. some of them are a bit all over the place

    Hello thread.

monsi Thanks for the critique, I've noticed that my proportions are off in the portraits, I'll try to spend a little more time planning my paintings.

Today I did, in my opinion, alot of stuff. I started with my 60 poses, then did 2 pages of head studies, then worked on memorizing the muscles on the back of the leg, then did a page of leg studies. Also a portrait.

    Stuff from today.

    As usual, same routine.

I worked on a master study, came out not even close to what the real thing looks like but I tried. The second portrait I worked a lot harder on, and I think it shows. The values are still off though, so I'm going to need to do more of those.I also worked on more leg studies, tommorow I'm going to get to work on arms.

    Same as yesterday.

    More arms. So many arms.
Some of the painted arms are from my head, others from Character Designs. The drawings are from Loomis, I just repeat them over and over until I have them and the muscles memorized.

hey dude, your limb studies are nice, but when it comes to putting them on someone they seem to get distorted. I know this has been said but I think its good to re force it but your proportions are weird, on your full body and faces. I hope your doing studies from photos on top of the arm studies from loomis/bridgman because it would really reinforce the information that you are learning. You seem to have an ok understanding of values but I think that you should spend time with black and white paintings to really push your values. Hope a least some of this was helpful

    One more.

Diarum Hey, thanks for the critique, I decided to take your advice and try and practice what I've learned with a photo. I messed up the proportions again but at least I'm learning what to watch out for.

Some stuff from the past week.

This is what I did today; some portraits and a master study in the works. I also did 20 pages in my sketchbook throughout the week but I don't want to scan them right now.

A lot of you portraits have like deform or exaggerated features. Like the nose in all of them are really big and round.
    Hope this helps
