I've been debating on whether construction of a figure is truly worth it or not. While doing figure studies I've noticed not all of my figures using construction method come out great and come out much more stuff. However while using a more loose line mixed with sharp lines combination of outlining the figure my figures look much more lively and less stiff. I'd love some feedback on this from anyone who's had experience with this problem or maybe is having the same problem. My figures from imagination seem less stiff if I use the figure outlining method (somewhat similar to Villpu in a way from what I've seen from him), however construction is apparently "the way to go." I've tried different methods of construction aswell, but none of them I've been too happy with. Any suggestions?

Just a couple figures, I started traditional painting at school and will post a picture of it when I'm finished. So far I really like it, it's more relaxing than digital painting I feel

Not much, I'll have a lot more time to start drawing after this week is over, so expect some delayed posts.

Sorry I haven't been posting anything, was busy with a submission tournament this last week, but I'm back now! Some studies and an Adventure Time piece I'm workin on. I really want the Adventure Time piece to show Finn as fun and playful, but so far it just comes off as creepy. I need to do a ton of more work on the face, and the pose seems off for some reason, any suggestions?

Been slacking way too much on my art, therefore this week I am being devoted to artwork and forcing myself to be anti-social! Hopefully by tomorrow I can finally finish this damn Adventure Time piece.

So I haven't shown what I've been doing at school at all. I decided I'll take some pics with my very crappy camera phone and share with you all how my traditional paintings are going. These are the only paintings I've ever done traditionally, both being photo studies. Done in acrylic. And finally at the bottom is some long needed figure studies and a little animation of em doin kicks

Keepin on with the studies. I feel like I rushed this face a bit, most of it is at a slight slant which disappoints me, but it's just another lesson to learn. Time to move on.

I'm doing Crimson Daggers' Deathline challenge. After listening to the livestream I am super inspired to work my ass off this year. I played some starcraft 2 literally all day and then heard the livestream, it made me feel like an asshole. So, now I'm gonna go by the saying "Wake up. Shut up. Get Better."

My three goals for the challenge are as follows:
    1) Get good enough to become a full-time freelance artist
    2) Stop spending money on stuff I don't need (I'm talking about you junk food)
    3) Do studies every single day.

    Wish me luck!

Tried a color study today, I haven't done one of these in a long time and I never realized how bad I am at picking colors ha. I'm so used to doing B&W and coloring using overlay and color layers that I'm not used to color picking. If anyone has any suggestions or feedback on how to help with this I'd appreciate it very much.

My face looks all fucked up by the way haha xD

So I'm sorry for the crappy quality on these pics and some have the camera at an awkward angle so it looks a little out of proportion. Anyway I did quite a few of these over the last couple days to try and sell at a local event. I only sold one but hell I earned more money then I spent making them so whatevah

hi like the idea behing that adveture times picture, i think their faces anyway show too much black, like shadow side of the nose, this makes it look little dirty, less deep skin coloured shadow would fix this up

keep going, liking the last study

Thanks kidult, I am man, I've never been as inspired as I am at this point in my life to work on my art.

    Here's some shiz from today!

I'm tryin to establish a good understanding of both the sillhouette of the figure aswell as the form and construction of it in these studies.

Here's a still life I did last night that I forgot to post, I'll have more stuff later tonight. This was the first still life I did that wasn't of just a picture, the orc figure is right by my monitor, so it was a little different for me, but not too much. And it was kind of nice to see that actual colors of things instead of what the camera saw.

Thanks Nyoron Didn't even think anyone subscribed to this thread ha, it's nice to hear

Some random studies from the last couple days, also my school's yearbook cover which I'm designing this year. Also, some TAPE ART! I've never even heard of tape art until this last week, but I gotta admit it was pretty fun to experiment with and I can definitely see myself doing it again in the near future. If you wanna see the master of tape art go to the link below, he has incredible work!

    thanks

A Batman I did at school done in Ebony Pencils and Prismacolor. The method is basically like going grayscale (ebony pencil) and then adding an overlay layer to color (prismas). And the effect of the two makes it look all incredibly smooth, I'm happy with how this turned out and I think I'm going to do more stuff like this later on.

    Sorry for the light glare
